AVENGERS: ENDGAME: Another Returning MCU Character Revealed As Ken Jeong Reportedly Lands Secret Role

Some interesting details have been revealed about Avengers: Endgame today as a new report claims to have the scoop on another returning character from the MCU's past. Needless to say, SPOILERS follow...

The Russo Brothers have never shied away from including Community cast members in their Marvel movies. Abed Nadir and Jim Rash made brief appearances in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War respectively, while Arrested Development's "Blue Man" was seen briefly in Avengers: Infinity War

Now, Revenge of the Fans is reporting that Ken Jeong (The Hangover) has landed a secretive role in Avengers: Endgame and while it's expected to be another blink and you'll miss it
cameo, no details have been revealed about what exactly he'll be getting up to here.

Right, on to the spoilers! In the past, we've heard rumblings about everyone from Howard Stark to The Ancient One factoring into the movie in some way but the site claims that we can now add Rene Russo's Queen Frigga to the list. As you may recall, she was killed by Malekith during the events of Thor: The Dark World.

However, if we're heading back to the events of The Avengers, then her returning does make sense.

We'll have to wait and see if this actually pans out but it definitely sounds like a lot of familiar faces will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe during Avengers: Endgame, and that has to mean time-travel will play a key role in the story.

For a recap of everything the Avengers: Endgame toys
have revealed about the movie, hit the "View List" button below!

Look At Their Hands...

We'll talk more about these costumes a little later in this post but did you notice what's on their hands? Back when Avengers: Endgame was shooting, we saw set photos featuring characters like Captain America, Iron Man, and Ant-Man revisiting the events of The Avengers and Steve Rogers was even decked out in his suit from the 2012 release.

However, they all had some pretty strange looking devices on their hands and most of us assumed that they would be used to transport the heroes back through time.

Well, these suits also have those on them (incorporated into the costumes themselves rather than separate) and that has to mean something, particularly as the prevailing theory is that Earth's Mightiest Heroes will need them to travel into the Quantum Realm.

Thanos Still Has The Infinity Gauntlet

Since Avengers: Infinity War was released, we've seen quite a few leaked images of Thanos suited up with a massive double-edged sword. Most have assumed that comes as a result of the Infinity Stones having been spent by the effort it took to wipe out half the universe but this action figure confirms that the Mad Titan will still be wielding the Gauntlet here.

He may not be as powerful as he once was, though, because something has resulted in him having to don a full suit of armour and using that sword as a weapon rather than the Gauntlet and it probably comes as a result of the damage the snap ended up doing to his arm.

The Chitauri Are Returning

While it's fair to say that most of us assumed the Chitauri had been wiped out in The Avengers, Avengers: Infinity War confirmed that the aliens are still controlled by Thanos. Now, with the Outriders defeated in Wakanda, he's clearly going to be calling them back into action, right?

Not necessarily.

With Earth's Mightiest Heroes set to revisit their first battle against the aliens, common sense says that we'll see the Chitauri there and that could be the extent of their role in this sequel.

Black Widow's Ponytail

In the trailer for the movie, Black Widow still had her blonde hair from Avengers: Infinity War. However, that shot of her talking to Clint Barton definitely pointed to some time having passed from her scenes with Steve Rogers to that as it appeared to be red and tied into a ponytail, something we saw in some leaked images last year.

Well, this action figure confirms that Natasha's new hairstyle will indeed be a red ponytail for those of you who care about such things and it's definitely a pretty solid look for the hero.

Ronin's Mask

It's no longer a secret that Hawkeye will be taking on his Ronin persona in Avengers: Endgame but this toy packaging finally gave us a proper look at the mask the hero will be wearing in the movie.

While it certainly bears a resemblance to his comic book counterpart, the hood is new as is the fact the hero's eyes are exposed. The gold colouring appears to be there, though, and as costumes being adapted to screen go, I'd say Marvel Studios has done a good job.

Valkyrie Returns

There was sadly no sign of Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie in Avengers: Infinity War but we've been hearing rumblings for a while now that she could return alongside Korg for Avengers: Endgame.

Well, this action figure appears to confirm that because while the line includes a number of heroes who are currently dead, the packaging for them references past movies, whereas the one for this character does not. That means Valkyrie is going to play some sort of role here and while we have no idea what that's going to be, her slightly updated costume is very cool indeed.

Hulk Vs Thanos: Round 2?

I may have the complete wrong end of the stick here but I do think this could be noteworthy.

The Hulk action figure (which is from the same line as Thanos) features what appears to be a random piece of debris but I'm pretty sure it's something the Jade Giant could use as a makeshift sword when he finally goes toe to toe with the Mad Titan in this film.

We need to see them go head to head again and while I may be seeing something that's not there, I'd love to hear if you have any theories of your own at the end of this breakdown!

Rocket Suits Up

It's important to note that the theory Earth's Mightiest Heroes are wearing these suits because they're travelling either into the Quantum Realm or back through time is just that: a theory.

However, it really doesn't seem as if it's going to be as simple as them needing these costumes to travel into outer space because Rocket has one as well and we've seen on a number of occasions that he can just wear his own, regular gear while in that atmosphere. It's also worth noting that his suit as the Avengers "A" on it which points to him now being a member of this team.

Thor Shaves His Head?

In some leaked prototypes for Avengers: Endgame Funko Pops, we didn't see too many surprises but there was at least one! Upon closer inspection, it appears as if the God of Thunder will be shaving his head at some point, something we haven't seen in other action figures (hence the question mark).

It could be that this was Marvel's plan at an earlier point in production but this would be a vastly different look for the hero and one which definitely brings back memories of Jason Aaron's "Unworthy" take on the hero. Something tells me that he might be feeling that way after failing to take out Thanos.

Rescue's Armour

While it's considered a spoiler by some, Pepper Potts will indeed be suiting up as Rescue in Avengers: Endgame and this action figure further confirmed what costume she will be wearing here.

As you can see, it's pretty much been torn straight out of the pages of the comic books and while we don't know the story behind why she suits up, this is clearly something we'll be seeing in the trailers and on posters before the movie hits
theaters seeing as she's part of the merchandise hitting shelves.

Will she be the one who "rescues" Tony Stark from space? That certainly seems pretty likely.

The Suits

So far, we've seen pretty much every member of The Avengers decked out in these new black and white suits so they're clearly going to factor heavily into the movie and aren't just being released as toys that actually having nothing to do with the movie itself. They look like a combination of Tony Stark and Hank Pym's technology so a trip into the Quantum Realm at the very least looks likely.

There's no way that Janet Van Dyne's mention of "Time Vortexes" can be a coincidence, so chances are we will see these characters travel back to the events of The Avengers (and other key moments in the MCU's history) in order to try and set things right and stop Thanos once and for all.

What do you guys make of these reveals? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below and stay tuned for more Avengers: Endgame details as we have them.

And this movie keeps getting BIGGER AND BIGGER.

I knew it was only a matter of time before he joined the MCU. He's real good friends with the Russo's.

I wonder who he is playing?

@L0RDbuckethead - There was a scene written but never shot for Infinity War of Quill getting information from a poker game attended by both Howard the Duck and a cameo played by Ken Jeong. I wonder if they were being sly saying it had been "deleted" and have a variation of the Howard/Jeong scene, maybe Thor getting the info, in Endgame.

@Repian - That'd be cool.

Although I have an inkling that they're going to try and make Arnim Zola return as MODOK, somehow.

From Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

Here's a fun experiment. Do a search of every Josh Wilding article for the phrase "makes sense." It's in 90 percent of them.

A weird quirk, to be sure.

I can't wait to see the cameos in this. Frigga is cool, but give me Erskine and Yinsen. This time last year i was asking for Red Skull and we know how that turned out.
XelCorp
XelCorp - 1/29/2019, 1:28 PM
@TheManWithoutFear - I find it mind boggling how there was never any sort of nod or flash back to Erskine with the “Stay a good man” line, with all the moral trials and tribulations that Steve has been through from Winter Soldier- Infinity War.
JonC
JonC - 1/29/2019, 2:12 PM
@XelCorp - steve has been in some tough situations but he has never wavered his beliefs... so i think the need to repeat the "stay a good man" line has not been needed so far. he would have to put in a situation where he really questions going bad to get that line.
XelCorp
XelCorp - 1/29/2019, 3:10 PM
@JonC - But Steve’s situation with Bucky and Stark along with the accords wasn’t a good enough reason to question himself?
TheManWithoutFear
TheManWithoutFear - 1/29/2019, 11:25 PM
@XelCorp - There is that moment in CW where he is lost on whether to sign the accord or not. He doesn't want to, but is very close to being swept along with it. He's a man out of time and he really doesn't know what to do.

That's why I love the funeral scene so so much. It's Peggy reminding Cap, through Sharon, of where he came from and what he stands for and who he is. It's a call back to "a good man" in that it stands as a reminder that even though the world has changed he had to to stay true to who he was back then and remember that that is who he still is. That in the end, the accords is an easy decision.

Or something like that. It's not like I've thought about it or love that movie or anything...
