As we told you earlier today,
Avengers: Endgame will open in China on April 24th, two days before it arrives in North America. As a result, early projections have shifted and the movie's opening at the worldwide box office looks set to be absolutely massive.
It would need to earn over $640.4 million to top
Avengers: Infinity War's global debut, and while the lengthier runtime could pose a problem, it has an extra day of play in the Middle Kingdom compared to its predecessor. Looking back at that movie's Chinese opening, Endgame should easily surpass $800 million and could even reach as high as $850 million worldwide.
It's still early days, of course, but Disney is planning to get the movie on more screens in the same theaters in order to make up for the three hours it will take to watch it on one.
Either way,
Avengers: Endgame is poised to break a huge number of records and definitely stands a chance of becoming one of the highest grossing movies of all-time - even if it fails to reach the same heights as Avatar. Tickets are expected to go on sale next Tuesday, so that will give us a much clearer idea of its domestic opening weekend.
