AVENGERS: ENDGAME Star Robert Downey Jr. Shares BTS Look At Tony Stark's Emotional Reunion With Peter Parker

Avengers: Endgame was filled with emotional moments, but there was one in particular during the final battle that undoubtedly warmed the hearts of Marvel fans everywhere. It was the reunion between Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark and Tom Holland's Peter Parker.

Parker, who had been snapped away along with half of all life in the universe, was brought back for the final battle in Avengers: Endgame thanks to the successful mission to recapture the Infinity Stones. Tony Stark, of course, played a huge role in that, working to discover the science behind time travel; his efforts aided by the fact that Parker had vanished right before his very eyes with Thanos's snap.

While Stark's life was actually fairly decent following the snap — having finally started a family with Pepper Potts — the guilt of having lost Peter Parker ate at him. So, to see the two finally reunited after what was five years for Tony Stark was an incredibly emotional and powerful moment in the film - and to see him actually stop Parker from talking with a big hug brought tears to many fans' eyes.

With the spoiler embargo lifted for Avengers: Endgame, Robert Downey Jr. has been sharing special behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the production and filming process of the Marvel blockbuster. The most recent video captures the magical moment detailed above.

The latest BTS shot from the Endgame star comes just after he shared another incredible moment from the film — when he wields the Infinity Guantlet and states that epic final line: "I am Iron Man." As previously revealed, Downey Jr. had some reservations about that line. It utlimately made it into the film, though, and easily became one of the most memorable moments.

Avengers: Endgame is currently playing in theaters. After another stellar weekend, the Marvel blockbuster is just $300 million away from topping Avatar's box office record.

As someone who was never quite thrilled about Tony's inclusion in Homecoming, I gotta say that Endgame sold me on the relationship. It became a tear jerking moment. I'm sold.

Finally managed to watch the movie again.

What a blast, lads, f*cking hell...

I said it before, ya know, once the Fox deal was finalized, that MCU's future looks brighter than ever but after Endgame...
I don't know if i can stress it enough, but really man, shit is full of potential!

Now it's only up to them to embrace it.
Seeing what they plan to do with Far From Home, The Multiverse etc... i reckon they're on the right track.

Sure seeing my dear mutants in the MCU will be all kinds of awesome, but without Steve and Tony...

Tom Holland and RDJ are magic on screen together, and the kid is a damn fine actor. He nails the joy, the innocence and the trauma so damn well as Peter Parker. That scene with Tony just being bewildered and hugging him got me so bad, and I turned into a damn mess when Peter was with dying Tony. Man am I gonna miss RDJ and him interacting with Tom so damn bad.

Also, to be quite honest after seeing Endgame, Infinity War has been knocked down a place or two on my MCU movie ranking list. I think I (and many others) probably had a lack of foresight of what could come next after IW and I saw it as the "end all, be all" in a way, which didn't allow me to really see its shortcomings. I was really surprised by some of the stronger and bold directing choices Endgame had.

In a lot of ways IW feels like a bunch of fan service. Don't get me wrong, it's great fan service and it paid off spectacular, but that may be why some people described the film as not feeling like a film. When the Russos kept saying Endgame was its own story, it sounded like it had nothing to do with Thanos and the stones, but I think they really meant that. Endgame does have way more of a story than IW does, and they allow that story to actually live and breathe by keeping the action scenes to a minimum. And because of that, the character work and acting are so much stronger because of it. And that final battle becomes a true achievement when it comes along.

The absence of costumes in these Bts scenes really highlight how those ubiquitous CGI clicky automatic helmets /masks are in the MCU. Maybe give those a rest going forward.

@FleischerSupes - To me these scenes really emphasize how great the men and women who work for these effects houses are at their jobs and how they deserve a LOT more praise and pay in the industry.

They wrapped up every issue Tony had so perfectly. I wonder if as the movie progressed he realized what he needed to do to save the universe.

Considering his vision in age of ultron ans Dr strange telling him he wouldn't trade his life for the stone then doing exactly that I don't think it's far off.

Could be why he was wanted to keep things the same after the new snap so pepper wouldn't be alone
LongMayHeReign
LongMayHeReign - 5/12/2019, 11:17 AM
@MyCoolYoung - Probably, just looking at his face the last time he looks at Strange I kept thinking about that AoU vision and Cap saying "You could have saved us"

MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 5/12/2019, 11:31 AM
@LongMayHeReign - indeed. I think the last battle is built in the image of that vision and the reason why Cap says that in the vision is because Tony had to be the one who made the ultimate sacrifice.

I think Tony's initial reluctance was because he was in denial. I'd like to believe in some of those alternate futures Tony hesitated to do the snap maybe that's why strange had to put the 1 finger up in this one to give him that push.

"With the benefit of hindsight" Age of ultron is on my Mt Rushmore. I loved it when it first came out and now that we see how it shaped the mcu it's confirmed for me.

@TyrantBossMedia - indeed and the "everything that's special about you" line to cap also. He wielded mjolnir based upon what was inside of him. Also, the way he used it was way better than Thor ever has

"This is why you were chosen. Because the strong man who has known power all his life, may lose respect for that power, but a weak man knows the value of strength"

@TyrantBossMedia -
@MrCoolYoung -
"And Stark says, 'I would just cut the wire'."
"everything that's special about you"

People really need to stop hyping up scenes from Avengers as foreshadowing for Endgame - all the foreshadowing in Avengers, except for Thanos appearing was solely for Avengers.

Cap implies Tony would not make a sacrifice play -> Tony makes a sacrifice play at the end of Avengers.

Tony implies Cap is nothing without his strength -> Cap demonstrates himself as a motivational leader and uses his intellect during the final battle to help reduce the area of damage caused by the Chitauri.

These debates were solved in the very film it was introduced in - they were not intended to be foreshadowing for Endgame or being used in such a way that everyone geeks out over the idea of them repeating the same resolutions they did prior.

@TyrantBossMedia - actually i see it the opposite... tony just "cut the wire"... and took the blast instead of others taking it (with a snap of his fingers)... which is what cap was doing with the fake grenade in the first avenger.

@heisei24 - some hero with blue lightsaber ;) here you can see more of him, in a movie you would only notice somebody is running behind Tony.

Whose idea was it to make Spider-Man's suit fully CG. I'm glad they're going back to the practical method.

People complain about films overusing CGI (like the prequels) but they give Marvel a pass on some of this stuff even if it looks bad.

Watched it for a 5th time today.

Man, Tony's reunion with Peter, his sacrifice and funeral got me teared up.. for the 5th time.

This film is perfection.

No. 6 next weekend - finally in glorious IMAX!

I have finished watching it today. It was brilliant. As I guess Disney will continue with solo films only.

Actually I think Russo bros kinda dislike Iron Man, because of things that happened with him in endgame and civil war.
