Ant-Man and The Wasp is just days away from being released and while we know what Marvel Studios has in store for us over the next year or so, their plans beyond that remain a mystery. However, by looking at various reports from the trades, interviews with Kevin Feige, and rumours in general, we've now compiled a detailed list of every single Marvel Cinematic Universe movie currently in the works.
Here, you'll find the films which have been confirmed, the ones which are rumoured, and a number that are simply in the very early stages of development as Marvel starts looking ahead to the future.
Needless to say, now is a very good time to be a fan of the MCU because there are a lot of very different superhero movies on the way from them, including many we're pretty sure you won't be expected. So, to take a look at the entire list, all you guys have to do is click on the "View List" button.
Captain Marvel - Confirmed
Set to be released next March, Captain Marvel takes place in the 1990s and places Carol Danvers in the midst of the Kree/Skrull War. The movie will undoubtedly shed some light on what's to come in Avengers 4 as it needs to explain both why she never returned to Earth and why Nick Fury is able to summon her with a cosmic pager of some sort. Needless to say, this one is going to be a lot of fun.
Avengers 4 (Avengers: End Game?) - Confirmed
Rumours and speculation about the direction Avengers 4 will take us in continue to swirl, with everything from time-travel to alternate dimensions among the prevailing theories. It's clearly going to be a game changer for the MCU because it needs to bring back all those dead heroes while also setting the stage for whatever comes next, something you just know the Russos are more than capable of.
Spider-Man: Far From Home - Confirmed
The Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel has now started shooting and seeing as the wall-crawler is currently dead, it's going to be very interesting seeing how Marvel handles promoting Far From Home. Regardless, we know that Peter Parker will be squaring off with Mysterio and that the majority of action takes place overseas, something bound to distinguish this from the Spider-Man movies before it.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 - Confirmed
James Gunn recently finished the first draft of his Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 screenplay and the signs are all pointing to it being released in 2020. Little to nothing is known about what we should expect from the threequel but seeing as only Rocket is alive at this point, it might as well just be titled Rocket Raccoon. In all seriousness, we should probably expect something special from Gunn yet again.
Thor 4 - Rumoured
Thor: Ragnarok was a game changer for the franchise and while it would have once been easy to imagine the God of Thunder being killed off in Avengers 4, you have to believe Marvel Studios wants to keep Thor around for the long haul now. We know that Chris Hemsworth and Taika Waititi would be up for a fourth instalment but where this will fit into Marvel's Phase 4 plans remains to be seen for now.
Doctor Strange 2 - Confirmed
Kevin Feige recently said that a Doctor Strange sequel will happen and while it's been almost two years since the first instalment was released, common sense says that the Sorcerer Supreme could factor into the studio's Phase 4 plans. It may not have a release date as of right now but these remarks from Feige are good enough and a strong sign that the sequel is finally starting to - very slowly - come together.
Black Panther 2 - Confirmed
Another sequel confirmed by Kevin Feige, he's said that Black Panther 2 will only happen if Ryan Coogler returns to take the helm of it and so when we'll see the movie now very much depends on when the filmmaker chooses to direct it. It's bound to happen before too long, though, and this will no doubt be one of the first sequel's announced by the studio shortly after Avengers 4 is released.
Power Pack - Rumoured
When an alien granted a group of kids superhuman abilities, they became the youngest team of heroes ever: Power Pack. The movie has been rumoured for a while now and even though Kevin Feige has said that it's among the projects they're considering, it doesn't appear to even have a writer at this stage. Interestingly, he's said it will be aimed at a much younger audience than any of their other films.
Moon Knight - Rumoured
Marvel Studios may have allowed Marvel Television to develop shows based on everyone from Daredevil to The Runaways but it appears as if Kevin Feige wants to keep at least one street-level superhero in the fold and that's Moon Knight. He's confirmed that the hero is one of many characters they're considering bringing to the big screen and there's definitely a lot they could do with him.
The Eternals - Confirmed
Kevin Feige lost out on developing The Inhumans and Jeph Loeb and Scott Buck dropped the ball on those characters in a huge way, seemingly leaving them on the shelf for the foreseeable future. Understandably, The Eternals is going to fill that void now delving into the MCU's past to flesh it out in some unexpected ways. A writing team has been hired and this could be the next Guardians!
Black Widow - Confirmed
Fans have been crying out for a Black Widow movie for years but it honestly never looked like it would happen. Well, anyone who doubted Kevin Feige's promise that it would have been left eating their words because it's in active development and a writer is attached (we've also heard about a number of female directors being eyed for the project). What direction it will head in is a mystery for now.
Blade - Rumoured
Personally, I would say that Blade is better suited to the small screen and that's probably where he'll wind up but there are some now quite old rumours about the vampire hunter being destined for some sort of big screen reboot. Introducing vampires to the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be a whole lot of fun and shakes the world up dramatically. Feige has said he wants to explore the horror genre...
X-Men - In The Works
As of right now, it thankfully looks like the Disney/Fox merger is going to go ahead but it's already been delayed once thanks to Comcast, so there's no way the X-Men will end up as part of Phase 4. However, it would be silly to think Kevin Feige hasn't devoted at least some time to mull over where these heroes could fit into things and once the deal is done, expect him to start laying the groundwork soon.
Fantastic Four - In The Works
Just like the X-Men, the Fantastic Four won't be showing up in Phase 4 but seeing as Kevin Feige has already tried to get his hands on Galactus (he offered Fox the chance to keep Daredevil in exchange for him and the Silver Surfer), don't be surprised if he has even bigger plans for the franchise's villains than its four lead heroes. Either way, it's about damn time the heroes get their due on the big screen.
Spider-Man 3 - Rumoured
We don't know how far into the future Marvel's deal with Sony stretches but it is thought that Kevin Feige and company will produce a third instalment of the wall-crawler's new solo franchise to cap off his time in high school. The hope is that Spider-Man will be pitted against the Sinister Six as the groundwork is definitely being laid for that villainous team to make their overdue big screen debut.
A-Force - Rumoured
We know that the Marvel Cinematic Universe's female stars pitched some sort of team-up movie to Kevin Feige but whether or not he actually listened to them is another matter! He did recently say that more women will soon be seen in this world, so it could be somewhere on his mind and you have to believe that there's a very good chance we'll see this different iteration of The Avengers very soon.
Young Avengers - Rumoured
It sounds like Ant-Man and The Wasp will set the stage for Cassie Lang to one day become Stature and there are even rumours that we'll see an older version of the character in Avengers 4 next year. Regardless of whether or not that happens, you have to believe that there's a very good chance we'll see this team make an appearance somewhere down the line even if it isn't until Phase 5 or Phase 6!
Avengers 5 - Rumoured
While Earth's Mightiest Heroes will no doubt look very different after the fourth instalment is released next year, there's no way the franchise is going to die and my personal guess is that we'll see the West Coast Avengers spearheaded by Black Panther. Whether or not the Russo Brothers will be involved is another matter but we're going to see another Avengers movie before Phase 4 ends, that's for sure.
Nova - Rumoured
James Gunn may not have much interest in bringing Nova to the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise but Kevin Feige does seem to see the potential the character has on the big screen. With the filmmaker set to help expand the cosmic side of the MCU after Vol. 3 is released, we're bound to see Richard Rider blast into proceedings, especially as the Nova Corps were decimated by Thanos in Infinity War.
