AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR: There Will Be A "Narrative Thread" To Every MCU Plot In AVENGERS 3 & 4

The culmination of a 10-year continuity the Avengers: Infinity War will tie all previous films together and reportedly touch upon every MCU plot thus far.

It was clear to anyone from the beginning that the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War and it's still untitled sequel Avengers 4 will be an unprecedented endeavor and a film on the scale of which is very rarely seen, serving as a "finale" event of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that we know up to this point and serving as a springboard into what's beyond.

Serving as the culmination of a decade long continuity Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 will not only contain over 60 marvel characters and bring our heroes to confront the big bad first teased in 2012's The Avengers and finding us at the end of the road that Tony Stark started that universe on back in 2008 but will also according to co-director Joe Russo have the task of touching upon everything that's happened along the way.

In a retrospective called “Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years – The Evolution of Heroes” on the home video release of Thor: Ragnarok the actor stated:

“Every story that Marvel has told since Iron Man 1 finds a narrative thread in these next two Avengers movies. It is a culmination of all that storytelling.”

It's a tall order and a high aim what with the number of films that have come out under the MCU banner including ones with sub plots and characters that have seemingly fallen by the wayside, it will be interesting just how these threads manifest themselves in the upcoming Avengers film.

Marvel mastermind Kevin Feige seems confident however as he again spoke about these films pulling together all that has been laid out and leading us forward to a very new MCU:

“With Infinity War, we’re paying off every little thread and every little tease that we’ve had in what will be 18 films prior to Infinity War. There’s never been anything like this. Being able to, film after film, tease at a larger story. Really building these stories up into a giant conclusion. While at the same time introducing an entirely new direction for the future.”

What do you think? Is Avengers: Infinity War going to pull this off? What plot threads would you like the two-part finale touch upon? Are there any that you are desperate to wrap up? And what do you hope for the future? Leave your thoughts below.

I have faith in the Russo's and Feige. Black Panther was good being so standalone because it let the characters in that film breathe, and seeing them in Infinity War would make me care about them after just one appearance. I can't wait to see the rest of the other corners of the MCU too.

Off topic, but Letitia Wright freestyling in these Black Panther BTS videos is the best thing I've seen today

Feige’s right- nothing like this has ever been done before. The scope of it is amazing.

I’ve said for years that the end credits scene of IM 1 changed Hollywood... and it did, in ways well beyond what I’d previously imagined, given that it’s lead to these movies, which will
wrap up so much. Amazing. Or, should I say, “Marvel-ous.” :)

"Every story that Marvel has told" seems like an exaggeration when, for example, Sharon Carter isn't in the movie, but after civil war I can't not trust the Russos

After Black Panther, I just realised how epic this scene is probably gonna play out now and it's probably gonna give me the feels again.

T'Challa's probably gonna give a rousing speech, rallying everyone to fight for Wakanda. Then M'Baku and his Jabari would start off with their grunts to get them all pumped. Then Okoye will probaly shout "Wakanda forever!" and rally her Dora Milaje. Bucky and Natasha would ready their guns and Cap will activate his new shield. Falcon then would turn on his wings and War Machine gets all the toys out. Then Banner in the Hulkbuster shows up. They all charge and T'Challa just runs ahead of everyone because he's that badass.

Yeah, I'm probably not gonna survive seeing that.

@BlindWedjat -
Didn't Mackie mention that Spidey and Drax were in that scene too? My imagination is literally running wild right now

No doubt. Everything about this film has me so excited. Markus, McFeely, Russo's. I watch that 30 sec superbowl trailer like every day. I can't wait.

Wonder how The Leader, Abomination and Red Skull will factor in...

@TheMadman - great question. I’ve often wondered about what happened with Red Skull (who I thought was a great villain).

The Abomination, I believe, is being held in a cage like they had for the Hulk in The Avengers.

@MediaMan - in season one of AOS they mentioned something about Blonsky being held in Alaska.

It’s a damn shame the Hulk never got a trilogy.

@TheMadman - I either missed that in AoS or forgot. Maybe that cage is in Alaska.

Looks like the closest we’ll get to a Hulk trilogy will be his arc from Ragnsrok through Avengers 4...

@TheMadman - red skull becomes ebony maw. Abomination becomes black dwarf. Idk lol

So are we going to get a resolution to the Leader?

This is just marketing speak. Of course they aren't paying off "every single thread" from every movie. That would be a mess.

Mandarin, Leader, and Betty Ross please. Also that Atlantis tease form Iron Man 2 needs to be followed up on as well.

@Cyclone1993 - ten rings is a huge loose end from the very first MSU film. I can’t see that paying off. Red skull as well is probably still out there. Blonsky is basically resolved and who cares about Betty Ross.

What happened with Sharon Carter, what’s up with the Ten Rings and the Mandarin, what’s up with the Red Skull, what’s up The Leader..those are the only real questions I want answers too, but also would rather them be tied up outside of Infinity War

You remember watching Robocop, and in the background you see the news channels displaying relevant stuff in the background? Like ED 209 in Robocop 2? So you knew it was still a thing. Just do that with Leader and Abomination. Or Mandarin at this point. Because we know we will probably never see them again.

How crazy would it be if, in the Wakanda battle, Banner never Hulks out and the shot with Hulk in the trailer is just to keep from spoiling that Abomination is back! I know this would probably never happen, but I would love to see the good guys bring him out from wherever he is being held to help in the fight.

@Adamore - zemo would to that but not the heroes of the world. Abomination has shown no propensity for doing anything right.
