AVENGERS 4 Set Photo May Reveal A New Weapon For Iron Man And Could Shed Some Light On A Big Mystery

We've all been wondering for a while now what that mysterious looking device was in the Avengers 4 behind the scenes photo shared by the Russos and this image might just shed some long overdue light on it.

In Avengers: Infinity War, a large looking device could be seen in the background of the workshop War Machine was reunited with Captain America in. No one really paid much attention at the time but that changed when it was spotted in a photo shared by Avengers 4 directors Joe and Anthony Russo.

They told fans to look closely for what many of us assumed would be a title reveal but a new photo has now surfaced showing the device and that's led to an entirely different sort of speculation today.

As you can see, it bears a striking resemblance to the proton cannon which was wielded by Iron Man in the Marvel vs. Capcom series of video games. Used as the Armoured Avenger's special move, it's become a staple of the character and it now seems as if we're going to see it on the big screen, perhaps as the weapon which takes down Thanos. It's also possible that War Machine could use it.

Honestly, it might mean a lot or very little but this image leaves us with a lot to think about and it will be interesting seeing if and how it ultimately factors into Avengers 4. What do you guys think?

@Luminus - it should be the weapon that puts Josh's deleted article that he stole from zergnet back up

@HubbleFunk - yeah. Maybe this is just the start to a new quinjet. We really dive too deep into things sometimes. Like how people are saying that helas hat is the venom symbiote.

@Luminus - @Vigor @Origame

If anything, this could just be a prop from Tony preparing a Quinjet for Space travel.

Surely Tony is past needing hydraulic and fuel pipes in his tech, the kind you see in jet engines?

@HubbleFunk - yeah, it’s clearly designed to look like a jet engine, assuming that it isn’t actually one on loan from somewhere.

My guess is that it’s just technological set dressing, and doesn’t play a role in the film... just fills out the background.

@HubbleFunk - I'm curious if it's really a quinjet or something of the sort, since they don't even need to use a ship to travel the universe since thor now has access to the bifrost at will

I was thinking maybe either rocket makes a ridiculous rocket-style gun (cause he loves ones that are about twice as big as he is) or it's something involved with accessing the quantum realm?

@HubbleFunk - they were pretty much past that once they established that tony could design helicarriers that use his arc reactor's power in winter soldier

I also think they aren't gonna be concerned with making ships for space travel since thor can access the bifrost

@Chewtoy - I'm with you. With thor's access to bifrost I doubt they'd need to make anything like this.
