Russo Bros Talk Possibility Of Brie Larson's Captain Marvel Appearing In AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

After weighing in on Anna Kendrick lobbying to play Squirrel Girl on the big-screen, the directors speak vaguely on the chance we'll see Captain Marvel join the Avengers before her solo movie.

Directors Anthony and Joe Russo recently took to social media to tease the beginning of pre-production on Avengers: Infinity War, with principal photography starting in November. So, it’s no surprise the sibling filmmakers were asked about the highly-anticipated sequel while kicking off promotion for the Blu-Ray and DVD release of Captain America: Civil War.

More specifically, the directors were asked about the unlikely possibility of adding the likes of Squirrel Girl, played by fan-favorite Anna Kendrick, to the already jam-packed superhero roster for Infinity War.  “It would be perfect casting, and we’re huge Anna Kendrick fans,” admitted Joe Russo. However, “[We have our] hands full trying to tell the story we have with our preexisting characters. Anthony would probably die from exhaustion if we introduced another character,” Joe added before Anthony Russo said, “That’s not to say we’re not going to introduce a new character.” Is this Carol Danvers played by Brie Larson?

“If they ever cast that role, maybe,” Anthony jokingly said in response to Captain Marvel appearing in Avengers: Infinity War nearly a year before her own standalone movie. “Do you know if they’ve cast it yet?” he then asked before getting candid about the possibility: “That’s one we’re going to have to plead the fifth on.” Seems likely! Even if she doesn’t appear in Infinity War, she’s almost guaranteed to appear in the untitled fourth installment.

Moving along, the Russo brothers were then asked whether or not they have narrowed down that 67-character count for Infinity War which they had suggested earlier this year. “Yeah, it’s down to 66,” Joe laughed. “Remember Dr. Fine, [the S.H.I.E.L.D. surgeon] from Winter Soldier? He’s off the board. Wanted too much money.” What do you think?
