IGN caught up with Chris Hemsworth where he talked about being excited for Thor as well as what he is looking forward to with The Avengers.

On if all the promotional stuff going on with the release coming up has hit him yet:

"Yes and no, I guess. It's still sort of surreal to see the billboards come up and you start to see the trailers playing and you say, 'Wow, it's actually happening.' But a year and a half ago when I first got cast, I was certainly informed of how big it was gonna be so I've had that time to think about it, but yeah you still double-take at billboards and go, 'What the hell is that?!'"

On his favorite part of making Thor:

"The whole thing was just incredible, you know? I not only get to work with some of my favorite actors and people in the business, but I get to play a superhero. As a young kid or as an adult it's still a highlight."

On when he starts on The Avengers:

"Everybody in the cast? The film starts shooting in a couple of weeks, and then I come on after the Thor press tour, which is around sort of the beginning of May. That's when I enter the scene."

On how his training will differ on The Avengers compared to Thor:

"Yeah, it's a new team of stunt guys and we're taking it to the next level and probably getting a little more technical with the technique of using the hammer, and incorporating some sort of broadsword techniques. Also, I'm back in the gym again and eating all the protein I can get my hands on. I have a nutritionist this time around who's given me some great advice, so I'm back into the swing of it."

On if The Avengers cast has done any rehearsals:

"I've been sitting down with Joss [Whedon, the director] talking and the producers and getting ideas. As far as the whole cast, no, just because of everybody's schedule. Until we meet on set that will be the first time that the group is assembled."

On if he is nervous to work with any of the other actors:

"I've met them individually at times, all of them, and they're all just wonderful. There's always the nerves that run through your body when opposite actors like this, but the excitement of it all sort of overrides that for me. I didn't get into this business because I was forced into it. I wanted to work with people like this and I love it and it's fun. I look forward to hanging about with these guys. [Robert] Downey, I think, has a real unique technique of playing with the dialogue and improv, and I think that would be fun to try and keep up with."

On the similaritys and differences between Joss Whedon and Kenneth Branagh:

"They both really do love storytelling. Ken talks about Superman being one of his favorite films, and Joss has told me stories about him and his friends getting together and reading Shakespeare. So they're not as dissimilar as they might first appear. Both have an incredible passion for these films and are highly enthusiastic."

On what he is looking forward to filming in The Avengers:

"With the Marvel secrecy I'm not really allowed to say much, but I'm just looking forward to being in full costume with these guys and I'm sure there will be some tension so that should make for some interesting sequences."

Thor hits theaters on May 6, 2011 and The Avengers begin filming later this May.

I am really tired of the Hulk kicking Thor's ass in the comicbooks ever since Joe Q became EIC. I mean didn't Stan Lee said he wanted a character to be stronger then the Hulk and decided to create a god like Thor? Thor was able to go toe to toe with Galactus and yet they decided to establish the Hulk as the strongest being in the Marvel Universe who got his ass handed to him by Superman.

About the Thor/Hulk match up.. It really all depends on the writer.

If you go back to Thor # 385, the whole book is one long battle between the two and Thor does incredibly well.

In fact at one point they lock fingers overhead in a contest of pure strength and Hulk is totally unable to push Thor down. And Hulk was mad as hell at the time too.

So what that tells us is that Thor SHOULD be depicted as having class 100 strength in the books and in the movies. BUT sadly they don't.

I'm sure we'll see everybody trying to stop Hulk, and cap, with all his tactic vision, will be the only one who manages to do it.

Or even better, he coordinates each one's abilities to do it. Then he's the guy and the others (specially Tony) start really to respect him.

Please stop trying to peddle your crap on this site. Every story seems to have a comment by you trying to entice people with your B.S.

Moderators please look into this. if one gets away with it 50 more start.

I really like this site and would not want Morons like this to ruin it for everyone else.

IIRC it's established in the crossovers I've seen that in a matchup between Thor and Supes, Thor gives Supes a very close run for his money (Supes is very respectful of Thor), and there's a sense left that it could go the other way in a rematch (Thor was taken by surprise). So if Supes beats Hulk then Thor should beat Hulk roughly the same.

This is perhaps a little ot, but i think its kinda cool. Its about a cool coincident about the name Dr Selvig:

I hope you understand my bad grammar and spelling, but in my defence, I do belive my english is better than your swedish... :)

As you probably know, Stellan Skarsgard is also from Sweden (a bit more gifted in the english language than me, I might ad..) and thats the main reason I made this find.

The name "Selvig" is not very common at all in Sweden and most swedes in movies have stereotypical names like Sven, Bjorn, Leif etc.. That made me wonder if there was some hidden meaning behind that rather unusual name.

Selvig is, in fact, a old name from Norway and perhaps Dr Selvig simply is Norwegian, the birthplace of Thor in the comics. But... And this is were it starts getting wierd..
Selvig is an old norse word for willow. I do not think it has anything to do with the classic film with Warwick Davis so I tried a little harder. I do know that willow is some kind of tree, so I simply google-translated in to swedish.

The result was: Vide, pilträd, pil and sälg. (all of them plants and trees)

I then tried to see if some of those words had anything to do with the Norse mythology, so I simply googled the first one... and struck gold!

Vide is the kingdom of the Aesir Vidar. So the swedish word for selvig, is the same as the kingdom of the norse god "Vidar". That could be just some random god (there are many in the norse myths) so I looked a bit deeper into who he was.

Vidar translates too "man/warrior from the forrest" and is, second to Thor, the strongest of all aesirs. He is one of Odins many sons and half-brother to Thor.

Oh... and his primary function in the norse myth is this... He is the freaking AVENGER of Asgard!!! He his the God Of Vengeance!

So Selvig is norwegian for the swedish word vide. Vide is the kingdom of Vidar, who just happens to be the asgardian AVENGER himselfe!

Perhaps just a far fetched coincidence, but of all gods in norse myth, it just happend to linked to the one god that is an avenger. I think it is rather wierd, or perhaps thats just me... :)

Another cool thing about the colour of Heimdall.. Well, not his skin, but rather his golden armour. Heimdall is also known as "Gullintanne", simply "Goldtooth", in the norse myth, because he had teeths of pure gold. I do not know if his teeths are gold too in the movie, but its cool to see the designers making that golden referense. (And the "The White" is only used on Heimdall by Snorre Sturlason. The mostly named "the Whitest of all Aesirs, is in fact Balder. Even the name Balder translates inte "the bright" Balder was concidered as the best of all aesirs, very handsome, good, wise and white. It was impossible to have any bad feelings fabout him. Some say he even was the Jesus Christ of the norse myths.)
