Images & Vague Details For The Avengers' Shoot In New York's Grand Central Terminal

Though the set images aren't too revealing, a few vague details for The Avengers regarding recent filming in New York City's Grand Terminal have been revealed. Check it out!

Readying for tomorrow's filming in Cleveland, Ohio, where East Ninth Street has been altered to mock New York City's busy 42nd Street, the production crew for Marvel Studios' The Avengers were filming on-location in The Big Apple today. The crew was spotted at the actual 42nd street of New York City, inside the Grand Central Terminal station.

While the images, courtesy of a few New Yorkers and a crew member, depict the camera & lighting set-up as well dozens of extras, the scenes filmed apparently depict New Yorkers fleeing the lobby of the terminal station, evidently escaping a disaster. And at some point during the sequence, someone or something will either fly or be thrown through the "rigged" windows.

What's quite interesting is that, among the many "NYC" props on Cleveland set, theres signage for one of the entrances to the Grand Central Station. So we can assume that that whatever disaster caused the wreckage on 42nd street, may coincide with people fleeing inside the terminal. What do you think? I think this will be one helluva climatic action sequence.

Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. With director Joss Whedon at it's helm, and an ensemble cast including Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor Odinson), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff), Clark Gregg (Agt. Phil Coulson), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), with Tom Hiddleston (Loki Laufeyson), and Stellan Skarsgard (Professor Erik Selvig), the film releases worldwide May 4, 2012!

Good find! @DCMF

I wonder what flies through the window. My guess is it's one of the fireballs mentioned earlier. For some reason I'm not feeling that this is the work of the Skrulls anymore . . . something keeps telling me it's the work of Kang. I dunno, it's just that gut feeling.

I bet it's going to be a similar scene to the Ultimates when Iron Man flies the Hulk into the stations and they duke it out in there.

Oh and BLOW IT UP! BLOW IT UP!

How come we can't get set pics of the Avengers in full costume like we keep getting of the TDKR? Perhaps they know how to better implement security? Hmmm... Or maybe Nolan is just letting shitty photos leak out on purpose? Hmmm...Doubtful. I'm just trying to justify all the crappy TDKR shit we've seen in my mind to make myself feel better about that film.

@Stygr8dotcom - I think it has to do with TDKR filming out in public and of course security isn't good at all.

In the Ultimates comic series 1, in the final fight with the hulk, Iron man gets thrown by him through the windows into grand central station. Maybe there trying to recreate that??

HAHAHAHA! I love how marvel72 bashes and trolls every single TDKR article that is awesome, and then we have this small-time news about where a single scene will be filmed for The Avengers, and marvel72 says this, "thats an epic looking station.".

sad thing is the attetionn to detail for the outside entrance to Grand Central is way wrong, anyone that has been to or is from NYC knows that there are no signs for the subway outside Grand Central its all inside ,
that sign is just a basic NYC subway sign , Grand Central is a very awesome architectural masterpiece hope they convey that on screen
