Yesterday, MovieWeb got the chance to sit down with Marvel President of production, Kevin Fiege. Awesomely, they asked Fiege for more insight on upcoming films after The highly anticipated clash, Avengers.

"We haven't talked budget yet, we never start talking budget. We start talking story," explained Fiege. "But certainly we are looking at the next wave. We are going to do two films a year starting in 2011. What is our post Avengers film in 2013 or 2014? There are a lot of characters and meetings going on right now."

We continued by asking Fiege if the new proposed films would also take place in the "Marvel Film Universe" that has been created for the current line of movies?

"It could be both I would say. I'm not sure that we will always point out specifically that they do take place in this universe. But on the other side, I don't think we'll go out of our way to say they don't." He said. "For instance, Runaways probably is in this universe but they aren't going to be running into Tony Stark or Nick Fury. Nick Fury doesn't just show up in every room," Fiege joked.

We followed that by asking if it were possible that these films could exist in the "Marvel Film Universe" but not necessarily tie into the other movies?

"Yes. By the way, just like in the comics," Fiege replied.

Finally, we wanted to confirm the Marvel characters that the studio is looking at bringing to the big screen. In the earlier story one of the characters mentioned was Dazzler, a '70s disco-era character that can turn sound into light and was a member of the X-Men. Since the X-Men and all their characters are owned by 20th Century Fox we wanted to find out how Marvel Studios was planning on making a film based on that character?

"That's Fox. Yeah, I didn't see that (in the article). That's not us, unless Fox is doing it," answered Fiege.

We told Fiege about the other characters mentioned in the article including Power Pack, Luke Cage, Dr. Strange and Ka-Zar, to get his conformation if Marvel Studios is actually considering those characters as well for future films?

"All that is right except Dazzler," Fiege confirmed.

Personally, the 3 Marvel films I'd like to see after Avengers are Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Heroes For Hire/Iron Fist or Luke Cage.

I'm most curios at how they do Ant-Man, mostly because I know he'll be apart of The Avengers.

@ tyler

i want a Dr. Strange movie!!! Black Panther would be an obvious choice too, just because he's an important Avengers character, AND he's one of the very few big-name, black super heroes in Marvel. i think they would be stupid NOT to make a BP movie.

iron fist would be cool too :)

I knew Runaways would be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe...chances are they'll just refrence another character in that film.

It's good to hear that they're looking at Doc Strange and Black Panther and stuff...also considering he said that there would be 2 marvel films every year starting 2011, that means that we're due another Marvel film 2012 along with the Avengers.

Ant-Man anyone?

Dr.Strange, with an unknown cast, yet they'd be talented. I think they'll need to spend quite a lot of money on effects and prosthetics so having a set of new good actors will allow them to spend more money to perfect the entire movie.

I think they could do a Doctor Strange sure. Power Pack is right up Disney's alley. What about a Cloak and Dagger movie? It would coincide with a message to kids, don't do drugs.

@LEEE777 I mean everything from the costume design, to the tone. The actor, wasp. Not just what happens. But that is pretty simple.

wow so many thoughts

1. Dazzler is WAAAAAAAY down the list of important Marvel characters, right?

2. yes, Johnny Depp as Doctor Strange

3. Don't we deserve a Silver Surfer movie DONE RIGHT?

4. Mr. Eko from LOST as Black Panther. 'Nuff said.

5. We need more animated stuff too. My son & I LOVE Marvel's animated stuff

6. Perhaps Marvel should try to break into the horror genre a bit more deliberately. Ghostrider was borderline horror. Man-Thing was a ScyFy channel mess. With the revival of horror movies, let's see some Werewolf by Night, Morbius, old school horror stuff, etc. IDK, just a thought

@ Tankgirl

Tara Reid can't act. Of course that doesn't matter too much because 'Dazzler' isn't that interesting anyway.

Dr. Strange would be great, Iron fist too. And yes, they need to get a non-Affleck, non-leather Daredevil. Make it gritty.
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 4/24/2010, 7:28 PM
Thankfully, he said Dazzler wasn't an accurate report....and Tara Reid should never be given another part...even in a reality show.

2 films a YEAR! thats awesome! and that is why MARVEL
is the BEST!

DC movie makers..please take note! There is SO many
DC characters out there, but they (WB) take way to long to get the ball rolling.

MARVEL, please make NOVA!! also MOON KNIGHT..but MOON KNIGHT has to be GRAPHIC like..the 1st arc (2006)
Drawn by David Finch and written by Charlie Huston!
That is the movie I want to see!

oh man this sounds great 2 marvel films a year!!:D, avengers/ant man-2012, doc strange/black panther-2013, luke cage/iron fist-2014, moon knight/heros for hire(as a sequal to both luke cage and iron fist)-2015..although..i guess they'd want to be working on iron man 3, cap 2, thor 2, and probably hulk 2(3?) so each year we might see a sequal and a new character introduced which also sounds great :D..quick question though, who owns the film rights to Blade, Namor and Silver Surfer?

absolute travesty that Fox owns the rights to X-Men.

Power Pack has potential. For Disney 'tweens I mean.

A Disney produced PG Power Pack would probably rake money with 'tweens just like the Disney Channel business model.
Upupandaway
Upupandaway - 4/24/2010, 9:28 PM
Sorry to be a downer, but I hope they keep with the current quality of their films and not try to cash in on every property available. I still want to take my kid to a Power Pack film. I think pairing better known characters with lesser known characters for the two movies a year thing would be great.

@peterparker: Marvel have stated they're committed to the PG13 rating, so it's unlikely we'll get any of the 'dark and dirty' heroes (or at best they'll be toned down to Dark Knight level). If they ever do decide to go more mature though, I'd love to see a Marvelman movie...
ROMACK

Heroes for Hire would be awesome. Doctor Strange would be cool with Dormamu voiced by Kevin Grevioux (who would also work well as Luke Cage). For Black Panther - Djimon Hounsou.

Like I've said before, I wanna see Luke Cage and Iron Fist movies, followed by a Heroes4Hire team-up movie. That would be a great way to kick things off right.
