Matthew Vaughn Would Like To Direct The Avengers & Superman

From what I have heard so far about "Kick-Ass", is that it is really brilliant and different from the usual comic book film and if it turns out to be true, then I really admire Matthew Vaughn. Heck, the guy directed Layer Cake!

Well the guy admitted to MTV that he would like to direct "The Avengers" and "Superman."

Matthew Vaughn: I'd love to do The Avengers, and Superman… I think it would be great to reinvent Superman.

I would LOVE to see him do The Avengers, I actually think he is one of the few people that probably could give fans faith in a good adaption of it. Him directing Superman on the other hand, is cool, but I really dont see a future Superman film coming soon. Besides, The Avengers is already being made so he should easily direct that!

Also, it is very interesting to mention that he was once set with Marvel to direct "Thor", but his contract ran up and they never got to renew it. So the guy has a history with them already, and if "Kick-Ass" proves to be really good, it could open the door for him.

The Avengers is set for a May 4th, 2012 release and so far stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Lou Ferrigno. Is it possible that Matthew Vaughn could join the project? I hope so!

First he was going to direct X-Men 3, but dropped out of that.

Then he was going to direct Thor, but dropped out of that.

Now he wants to direct Avengers. Wonder how that will turn out.

a new superman would be pretty awesome...as long as they didnt cast Routh...he is a decent actor, just not as superman

@ slimybug- Matthew Vaughn may have dropped out of X-Men3 but he was responsible for the 1 new piece of good casting. Kelsey Grammer as beast. That being said your probibly right, I think he likes to do things his own way and when studios (cough cough FOX cough) put too much pressure on him to change things he leaves. If thats the case you gotta give him respect for his integrity. Which is something hollywood is lacking (Cough cough Ratner cough)

@cookiepussproduction

i just feel like routh comes across on screen as flat...i just dont see any depth in the characters he has portrayed, includeing kal
however,i see where you are coming from and it is a valid point, many of the recent incarnations (both animation and live action) of superman are just failed attempts to catch some of the magic that c reeve put into the last son of krypton...however c reeve was one of a kind so all these attempts to mimic him fail....maybe routh could pull off his own superman, who knows

I would imagine Ferrigno doing the voice in the avengers, since he did the voice in the increidlbe hulk and it sounded pretty spot on to me.

Cookie does bring up a good point - he did do 'Layer Cake', a KICK-ASS (pun intended) film, so I'd be interested to hear his take on the whole thing. Just so long as he got rid of 'dork' Clark and made him more... contemporary.
