MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT Star Simon Pegg Wants To Join The MCU As Captain Britain

Simon Pegg has already entered the Star Wars franchise but he's now thinking about taking on a comic book role and names Captain Britain as a character he would love to help bring to the big screen...

Not too long ago, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said that he realises Captain Britain has a huge fan base and would definitely be willing to bring him to the big screen somewhere down the line. When and if that's actually going to happen remains to be seen but there's at least one person who would be willing to take on the role and that's Star Trek and Mission: Impossible star Simon Pegg.

At first glance, he's not exactly the best choice as he's a little too old for the role and probably nowhere near big enough but it's worth noting that it sounds like he'd be more than happy just having a role!

"I mean, Captain Britain was this Marvel superhero that I loved growing up, ’cause he was the British member of that community," the actor revealed in a recent interview. "I even have a Captain Britain mask when I was a kid, but I fear I would probably be slightly too old now, but if they do have… If a Captain Britain movie comes about, they’re gonna need a British cast, so… I’ll be waiting."

Can you think of any characters from Captain Britain's world who Pegg would be a good fit for? Do you think this is a character worthy of being brought to the big screen? Let us know your thoughts below.

I've tended toward Colin Firth types, but...I could see this.

It's not the most obvious thing in the world, but with a good script, I could see it...

He's charming enough to pull it off. I could see it.

@L0RDbuckethead - It could be another Paul Rudd situation. That turned out great.

Like... full on mind-bendy weird beardo Captain Britain could definitely work, but I also feel like maybe he'd be stepping on Doctor Strange's toes.

I started watching Guy Ritchie's King Arthur earlier, and my tolerance for off-beat British fantasy may not be at its highest right now. After 45 minutes of that, I'm starting to even get cold feet on the Witcher series.

Also, I'm worried about his overall head shape if he wore a mask (and can we please get Captain Britain to wear a mask, please, Feige?)

That's a pretty serious dome going on there...

@Spock0Clock - This is why we need disney's king arthur.

@MrBillCipher - They're doing the Sword in the Stone, aren't they?

@Spock0Clock - I heard they were going to do that. I just hope they get it right.

To my mind, king arthur (fantasy wise) should be a fantasy doc and marty relationship. Meryln takes arthur on wild adventures that have a deep meaning that he doesent understand, and throw in a extra villain.

And then have a sequel with actual king athur facing off against morgan lefay as he reflects on his life.

@MrBillCipher - I've been meaning to read Once and Future King for a long time, and (from reputation) seems like a great foundation for a series of films. But I have to admit my grounding in Arthurian legend isn't strong enough to have a whole lot of feelings about it.

Beyond Monty Python's Holy Grail, I actually find it kind of baffling. And (frustratingly) having done a fair amount of reading about the actual history of the period (both of the supposed historical era and the periods when the legends arose and evolved) doesn't seem to help in the slightest.

As someone with know-it-all tendencies, I think it's healthy for me to identify things like King Arthur that I just don't really understand even though I'd like to.

Like, I get its place in British culture and history, and I want to dork out on the romance and all that. But... it just doesn't fit neatly into my brain the way that a lot of other folk tales do. Don't know why.

@Spock0Clock - Well to me king arthur is built up of several myths and legends combined with hysorty

To sum it up, fantasy wise, its the go to era of fantasy knight.

Named albion, you have
Dragons
Witches
Trolls and ogres
Bandits
Morgan le fay
The knights of the round table
Wizards
Other dimensions
lancelot betraying arthur
The black knight

All of this stuff gives you a great options for a trilogy done right.

@Spock0Clock - I met king arthur, he was not what he seemed, he lived up to the hype to much.

@Spock0Clock - that might also be due to the fact that guy ritchie’s king arthur was awful.

@Spock0Clock

Like many, I thought Edgar Wright would be great choice to write/direct The Flash film, but I also thought & I still think, Simon Pegg should play Eobard Thawne aka Professor Zoom aka Reverse Flash!!

Your picture clearly shows Simon Pegg looks like Eobard Thawne!!

If they do end up diving into the horror world with the MCU, I would definitely like to see him as Union Jack. Idk why, but I always loved that character and think Pegg could do something really great with it.

He's called the Doctor

Yeah I could see that.
Would be good if they assembled Excaliber and introduced the Warwolves.

I will see Simon Pegg in just about anything, but frankly, he has the range to carry a movie and if he bulked up like Krasinski and Pratt and Evans and Rudd and Cavil have for rolls ...I think he'd surprise people with how potent he'd be as the character.

I like Captain Britain, cool concept, there is so many captains that I always wished he was like Commander Britain or some other such thing, but that’s a very minor gripe. Would be cool to see him on the big screen.
