POLL: Which 2012 Superhero Movie Do You Think Will Win The Battle Of The Box Office?

THOR was the victor this year, but which out of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises and The Amazing Spider-Man will rake in the most cash next year? Vote here...

Feature Opinion

This year saw The Green Hornet, THOR, X-Men: First Class, Green Lantern and Captain America: The First Avenger hit the big screen. As it stands right now, THOR was victorious in the 2011 battle of superhero movies at the box office. Each of them were new properties (well, apart from X-Men: First Class, but it DID feature an entirely new cast) so it was always going to be a surprise no matter who eventually came out on top. 2012 is an entirely different matter altogether. Not only do we have the culmination of every Marvel Studios movie ever in the form of The Avengers, but we have a sequel to the incredibly successful The Dark Knight and a new Spider-Man movie, a franchise which was previously very financially successful in the hands of Sam Raimi. Oh, and there's also Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

The question I want you guys to answer is simple. Which of these superhero movies do you think will be the victor come 2012? Well, here's your chance to decide...

Honestly speaking, Im more excited to see the Avengers I think it will be stupid awesome, might even be the best movie, but the truth is in terms of B.O. TDKR might have it. Im basing this on how the TDK did, but this doesn't have the joker so I could be wrong.

Excited for TDKR, Avengers and Spider-man but I think TDKR will take it all financially and critically.

Critics will like TDKR more than any comicbook film next year.

@Intruder wait are you saying Spidey will make more money than the avengers?

why is ghostrider even on this list
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 11/7/2011, 11:43 AM
It'l be close, but I think TDKR will just clinch it because it's the follow up to one of the most popular and commercially/critically/financially successful movies of all time. There are lots of average movie goers that don't normally bother with super hero flicks anxiously waiting for TDKR.

The Dark Knight.
It's a proven franchise, so it will get alot of repeat theater goer's. People know and love 'Batman'.
2nd will be 'The Avenger's'.

@ arminies

all the kids that loved TDK? adults made TDK succesful, not kids.

if it's a straight choice of bats or spidey I think the kids will go for spidey

here comes the "OMG THE DARK KNIGHT RISEZ WINZ!" comments :P
anyway,as Intruder said,never underestimate Spidey.
to be honest,I think TDKR and TASM will fight for the BO crown next year.

for the record SM3 made more money than TDK overseas. FACT!

source - box office mojo

I think Spidey will come in second. Remember guys, WE might know Avengers is the damn holy grail of CBMs but the average joe just sees another super hero movie. And especially if its someone who wont have been following the other movies, they wont have a fracking clue what an Avenger is.
DarthTesla
DarthTesla - 11/7/2011, 11:49 AM
Definitely Avengers.

TDKR will make a shitload of money, but I just feel like The Avengers is more of an event than just a movie.
I'll probably see each one multiple times in theaters, though.

Then again, Thor made more than X-Men which was coming off a long running and popular franchise. You really just never know how its gonna pan out

AVENGERS..CMON ALL THOSE FRANCHISES IN ONE MOVIE? CMON THATS LIKE ASKING FOR ONE SCOOP OF ICECREAM AND GETTING A BARREL OF ICECREAM.

Kingdork - 11/7/2011, 11:54 AM
TDKR is the most plausible answer, even though I expect those four movies to be good or at least enjoyable each in their own way.

Spidey is a very popular character, but this is a new spidey franchise. The sequel will make way more. People have been waiting for the Avengers for years.

The Avengers and Spiderman Looks Awesome and They will be Great Movies.. But The Dark Knight Rises will win at the box office.. Summer 2012 will have Epic movies
Mechagino
Mechagino - 11/7/2011, 11:58 AM
Dark Knight Rises, and there's a reason why I say this.

Looking at the box office results of each avenger movie, with the exception of Hulk they all did well but not on a Spider-man level well. Thor made 400, Iron man 500 and it's sequel made 600, Capt made about 350, and Hulk made 200 something I believe. Keep in mind this does not include any of the DVD sales. If anything I see the avengers movie grossing at least 700 Mill MAYBE 800 but that's as how far as I think it'll go.

Now the Dark Knight Rises is a sequel to one of the most successful film out there and is the highest grossing comicbookmovie of all time and there's been a whole lot of hype revolving around the sequel to it. That alone guarantees it'll do better.

Ghost Rider I laugh at for people who choose that, not to be mean to them but old fire skull head isn't exactly the most well known hero out there. And towards the amazing spider-man, I'll say it will do well but I think too many people will be turned off by it being a reboot and it'll probably gross 500 to 600 mill. That's just what I think.

P.S. The Amazing Spider-man sucks. :P

@DoubleD you might not like Bale's Batman ,but he can act. You should see more of his films.
spiderneil
spiderneil - 11/7/2011, 12:02 PM
1. TDKR won't have the hype of a dead actor behind

2. TDKR isn't shot in 3D so all the people who don't see it in IMAX will pay regular prices for 2D tickets

3. TDKR is released too close to spider-man, that is going to eat into some of it's profits even if the ASM is RUBBISH. If ASM is amazing it will eat into a LOT of TDKR profits

The new Spiderman is not gonna go down so well with the kids, it's aimed at the twilight crowd. Batman is gonna walk this easy, then the Avengers and then Spiderman. Ghost Rider isn't even gonna break even, nobody gives a crap about Ghost Rider except those dumb enough to buy the silly comic!

The forecast calls for mostly successful MARVEL with only a gloomy patch of overdone DC.
