SDCC '11: Joss Whedon Speaks On The Avengers' Filming Progress And More!
Now dishing more the progress of filming for Marvel's The Avengers and the essential parts among other things, make the jump & check out what director Joss Whedon says!
Chatting with Techland at the San Diego Comic-Con, the director of next summer's highly-anticipated superhero ensemble The Avengers, discussed the essential aspects of filming, and the production's progress.
"We're about 2/3 of the way through shooting, and I live somehow to tell this. I think it's coming along really well. I have yet to make it more than the sum of its parts, but I'm really excited about the parts."
"It's getting two characters together who have never talked, and never even been in the same universe. It's the little moments between them. I mean, there is so much action in this movie, I'm appalled that I wrote it, because apparently I have to film it. But it's the little moments between the characters, where you really get to feel both of their voices, and their different perspectives. That's thrilling."
Primary filming in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has wrapped with the remainder of shooting moving on-location in several areas of Cleveland, Ohio; including the NASA facility. And it's been said the shoot will mainly consist of action sequences.
Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. With director Joss Whedon at it's helm, and an ensemble cast including Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Chris Hemsworth (Thor Odinson), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff), Clark Gregg (Agt. Phil Coulson), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), with Tom Hiddleston (Loki), and Stellan Skarsgard (Professor Erik Selvig), the film releases worldwide May 4, 2012!
