THE AVENGERS & AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Set To Arrive On 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Alongside INFINITY WAR

It looks like Infinity War won't be the only Marvel film arriving on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray next month as WDHE has officially announced the re-release of The Avengers & Age of Ultron on the premium format!

To coincide with the upcoming home video release of Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War next month, Walt Disney Home Entertainment has announced that it is also, for the first time ever, releasing The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. All three films will arrive in stores on August 14.

While we don't have any details on any new bonus content, both films are expected to retain the same special features from their initial Blu-ray releases in 2012 and 2015, respectively.

After finally embracing 4K Ultra HD last year with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, every new Marvel release, including Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok, and Black Panther, have all been released on the premium format. However, until The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel had expressed little interest in re-releasing their older Phase 1 and 2 films in 4K, but now that both have been confirmed, we can probably expect the rest of the studio's illustrious catalog to make the jump in the not-so-distant future.

The Incredible Hulk was also released on 4K Ultra HD by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment earlier this year.

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Good intentions wreak havoc when Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) unwittingly creates Ultron, an A.I. monster who vows to achieve "world peace" via mass extinction. Now for the first time on 4K Blu-ray, the Avengers must reassemble to defeat him and save mankind…if they can.

I hate the generic cover art for the non exclusive versions. They should have kept the original covers.

@PantherKing - Completely agree. I really hate the generic repackage of all the films up to Guardians 2.

@ExpertlyMediocr - and probably $500+ No thanks. Lol. Plus, there are several that I personally could never see again and wouldn't care. Only thing that would make me watch most of phase one again would be my kids or nieces and nephews who haven't seen them.

Ooh, you guys.... I was just telling fettastic that I'm too elitist to buy MCU on 4k Ultra, but that Infinity Gauntlet box set of Phases 1-3?

That I need.

Don't care how much it cost.

Yeah, once was enough. I'll pick up IW on 4K, not gonna give Disney the satisfaction of spending another 70$ for the first two.

4K technology exists?!?! My equipment is so old and bootlegged that my copy of The Avengers is hand-animated like Pinocchio.

Cinematic Universe Edition? Not Marvel Cinematic Universe Edition?

Are these the versions of the films that take place in the same universe as Gone With the Wind, Psycho, The Godfather and E.T?

Unfortunately, I don't have a 4K TV, but a standard 32' 1080p one.

I also have AoU on standard Blu-Ray and have Infinity War pre-ordered on standard Blu-Ray, too.

I would like to own the first film as well, but I think I might get a 4-movie collection once A4 is out.

@kylo0607 - Oh, you Americans and your silly imperial units.
Funny thing is, we still use them when it comes to display sizes.
No clue why...

If those 4k-players weren't so darn expensive...

@CapObvious - Americans?

I am actually a Bulgarian, but live in the UK LOL

Every retailer here in the UK puts TV sizes in inches.

Too bad none of their previous movies were filmed in anything higher than 2k except Black Panther(shot in 3.4k mostly with some scenes shot in 4k and some even in 6k)and all F/X are certainly 2k.

When Avengers came out I saw the movie 3 separate times with family and friends. I was only able to see Infinity War once, mainly because getting tickets was hard, seeing as they were constantly sold out in the weeks following. Can't wait to get my hands on the steelbook though. I can only imagine what part 4 has in store.

The Phase 3 box set is going to be insane! I hope they encase the disks in the Gauntlet. Over 10 films, not including whatever extras they include. I'm sure that thing is going to be around $500 to $600. I have the Phase 1 & 2 sets but my wallet is crying bloody murder with these steelbooks included haha.
