The Avengers Still on Target for May 4, 2012 Release Date!

Marvel and Disney confirmed on Thursday that The Avengers is still on schedule for its May 4, 2012 opening!

According to HeatVision (The Hollywood Reports Comic Blog) there was some speculation that The Avengers might not be on track for its previously scheduled release date due to the fact of recent distribution rights news.

Now we know that even though the distribution rights have changed hands, the movie is still on schedule.

"But when Disney took over the marketing and distribution rights to “Avengers” and “Iron Man 3” for a minimum guarantee of $115 million earlier this week, there was a hanging question whether Disney would use the same date to debut the movie."

So if you are keeping track, expect to see The Avengers in theaters May 4, 2012!

Yay!

Good news!! Just hope they don't rush it too much. Hopefully principle photograph will be done way before the release date so they can spend plenty of time on the post-productions side of things.

I remember not that many years ago that 'multiple superhero' films were seens as impossible simply because the amount of effects required would make the movie financial unfeasable.

Hopefully the script will be ready by the end of the year and that they're ready too shoot end of feb. Then wrapped before May to give them a whole year on post and reshoots!!! :o))

I don't know that they were thinking about changing it, it was more of a the distribution rights were changed which could have meant that Disney/Marvel decided to do what they wanted with the time frame of distribution...

I think some were worried that they could change that...

This is easily the most anticipated movie of my life. The only thing that comes close is waiting for TDK. To actually see the interactions between the different personalities after they shine as solo stars is a blessing I really didnt think Ill see in my life. Stan Lee is the man and all others in comics owe everything to him BOW DOWN. Make mine Marvel

probably wont see any pics till late next year/early 2012...depending on how many spies r on set. but then again they might try to keep this under tight wraps.
