According to Kotaku, it looks like the video game adaptation of The Avengers will never see the light of day. The site have been informed that work on it isn't going well, and this has resulted in the closure of THQ's Brisbane studio. What this means for it is unknown, but here are some excerpts from the report which explain the situation in full.

We’re hearing rumblings that THQ’s Brisbane studio, the studio that’s currently working on the video game adaptation of The Avengers, is closing its doors today.

We received a tip late last night from a source who claimed that things just "didn’t work out" with said adaptation.

Apparently, at the moment, some staff are still in the dark with regards to the closure, but things "had been rocky for a while." There is no word as of yet what will happen to The Avengers game.

Well, what do you guys make of this news? The fate of the game is currently unknown, and it seems hard to believe that they'd scrap it when it's sure to make them a decent profit! We'll be sure to update you as and when more information comes to light.

THANK GOD! THQ is one of the worst video game developers since Sega Stopped making dreamcast!

After the horrible HOMEFRONT game and the ridiculous Wrestling games I think this company should just stop making games!

A video game for the Avengers would probably be cool, it could expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Incredible Hulk video game had Daily Bugle ads on the Buses.

I blame the Australian Government and it's seemingly adverse opinion of the video gaming community.

Damn, and I reeeaaaally wanted to play a rushed movie-game that bastardized my favorite characters. Oh well...

Here's hoping Activision bites it next!

I'm glad for this. One less bad movie adaptation video game. Just make a game on its own. Spider-man and Batman proved they can make money not based on anything expect an original story for the game.

@m1312020- How about Daredevil, Ghost Rider (I'm not counting handhelds), and Punisher: Warzone?
TheGambitFreak
TheGambitFreak - 8/9/2011, 6:09 PM
NO!!!!! Captain America Super Soldier was amazing, it learned a lot from Arkham Asylum, it was brilliant, and unlike most CBM video games, it tied in with the movie, and left it open for a sequel, Avengers would be cool, whether it would be like X-men Legends or Ultimate Alliance, or just a single player AI game, I'd pre-order and buy first day, first in line, hope they end up making it.

Just don't give the rights to SEGA they already have ruined almost very videogame adaptation out there.

TheGambitFreak - 8/9/2011, 6:12 PM
Only down side to Captain America SUper Soldier was I beat the game in 6 hours 100% 1000G, it was super easy, but Hey my Gamerscore is higher now, so I'm not complaining.

AskaniSon
AskaniSon - 8/9/2011, 6:39 PM
It would've sucked anyway, but I call bullshit. Why? ALL MARVEL MOVIE GAMES HAVE BEEN MADE BY SEGA. I doubt that would suddenly change for the biggest one yet. And if it did, then it would likely get pumped out by Activision since they make all non-movie Marvel games ('cept for that Superhero Squad MMO).
ScionStorm
ScionStorm - 8/9/2011, 6:42 PM
Will they make a create-your-own-hero game so I can be Scary Ghost Man, and Nick Fury can recruit me?

Ghost Rider was on PlayStation 2 to answer your question.
