Animated Movie Of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns Said To Be In The Works!

Here are a couple of the main excerpts from the report. To read more, click on the link below to head on over to the site.

Bleeding Cool have heard from multiple sources (enough with the multiples already) that work is underway on a movie adaptation of Frank Miller and Klaus Janson‘s classic The Dark Knight Returns. As you might have guessed, however, this is to be an animated adaptation, much like the recent All Star Superman or in-the-works Year One.

Fittingly, Year One will come along first, but DKR is already in the early stages of development. According to our sources, several veterans of Batman toons past will be on the crew list, though we’re still trying to confirm who is writing and directing the film.

What do you guys think about this news? Are you looking forward to seeing the classic comic book adapted to the popular animated format or would you be happier with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment working on a live action version? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

Fantastic i think they need to forget about the average 76 min, and make this one a whole pannel for pannel, hour and 40 to 50 min movie.

You know what I really want to [frick]ing see? Kingdom Come. Oh but not just animated. CGI animated. Like the quality of the DC Universe Online trailer. And entire Kingdom Come movie in that CGI style. That would be outrageously Epic.

Not to insult everyone that wants a Flash or Wonder Woman movie, but when a WW did come out it sold horribly. And if a Flash movie comes out it will determine if they make another Flash or other solo characters. And people will complain about which story they pick. Who do you want him to face(Captain Cold, Gorilla Grodd, another character)? Which Flash exactly? And his greatest moments are with JL, not alone. I mean people complain when Batman doesn't fight Superman and Joker, but it still sells. Or when Superman once again goes against Lex Luthor, its the same over and over. When Tower of Babel comes out, go buy 2 or 3 copies and you might encourage more JL movies that may end up becoming more solo flicks. Flash has some diehard fans, but DC/WB isn't quite sure how to market him to everyone.

Yea Kevin Conroy is the only voice for Batman that I truly like.

@grif- hells to the yeah!!!

TDKR would be so awesome as an animated flick, hopefully they keep the same stylistic taste of the comic.

Knightfall would be such a bad ass thing to do. Could tie in elements of Azrael and Venom too in flashback sequence. Make it a trilogy. $$$ DO YOU HEAR US W.B.?!?!?!

HELLS yeah, I'm excited for this one!! I agree with DavidPalmer, screw the standard 76 minute format - pull out all the stops and make it a papnel-for-panel feature-length film! It's #@$!-ing 'The Dark Knight Returns', for christ's sake!!!

DC have a track record for making these things awesome, but TDKR really deserves an exact adaptation so I wonder whether they'll manage to squeeze everything in.

For some reason I really don't think this is going to translate well into animation...leave it in the comic =\
