Ben Affleck Finally Comments On Playing BATMAN

It's been almost a month since the news that Ben Affleck would be playing our next Batman hit (and almost broke) the web, and now we finally have some comments from the actor. While talking to Jimmy Fallon about his new movie Runner Runner, Affleck revealed a few details about his controversial casting, before responding to some of the backlash. The relevant chatter comes in around 1:43.

"It's so awesome, I'm so excited. They called me up and said 'do you want to do this', and I'm like, 'I'm not 25 man are you sure?'. So they said to come down and we'll show you what we're doing, and it was incredible. Zack has this incredible take on it..obviously we can't do what Christian (Bale) did, those movies are amazing, so he wants to do something different but still in keeping with that."

I hope this guy nails it, I'm one of his few supporters and this interview just shows that he's a good actor 'cause he is so serious when it comes to dramatic roles yet he looks like a fun guy in reality. Kudos to you Affleck.

When I heard Affleck being casted as the Bat, I was neither against this casting choice or for it. As I've said in another Batman/Affleck related article, this could go either way for how Affleck does the role. Now that enough time has past since that announcement, I can honestly say that I am all for Affleck as the Dark Knight. He's got my full support on this.

Plus, the way he handled the situation where majority of the fans greatly opposed him as Bats, I thought he handled it like a boss. Much kudos to him and I wish him the best. :)

its funny because when ben was 25 I would have said no to him as batman. now that he's older, I'm ok with it. even though i don't want to see an old batman on screen for the very first chapter of the reboot (!), I'm still glad that ben has had a chance to mature as an actor and a human being before being offered a seminal role such as this.

does that make sense?

No.... Zack made his rendition of Batman and thought Ben would fit the part, so he asked him.

Ben'll do great! I hope there are references to Robin and Nightwing. Hope the suit utilizes the grey costume.

he'll be an excellent batman. he'll be able to drop his current image the same way hathaway dropped hers. pure talent and performance. id be more worried about goyers writing than ben as batman and i thought the screenplay was fine.

Admittedly I was against the decision when it broke, on account of him being a MUCH bigger name than Cavill in what theoretically should be Cavill's movie. I'm still concerned about that slightly, now I just pray he does Bats justice, and doesn't overshadow supes (that would more come down to the story though I suppose).

@Intruder Yep mine are crossed for sure haha.

Ben is going to own this role. He will go down as the best Batman ever. I just pray his Batman is not a bitch like Bale's Batman was

Hes a great actor, great filmmaker... just not intimidating at all... and standing in the same frame as Cavill I dont believe he will be a convincing batman that could stand toe to toe with superman

I also agree with that. And I am feeling fairly good at this point. An oh so curious as to what the plan is.

Grey Batman costume, please.
