Chris Nolan is STILL The Man Behind The Bat According To Christian Bale

While being questioned regarding the Bat sequel Christian Bale states “Chris is the guy who will be making the calls about that,”

Christian Bale has his standard reply these days when asked about any Bat sequel news “Believe me, I have nothing to tell you,” Bale told MTV News. “Truly.”

That's kind of a blow to the legions of Batman fans out there who are anticipating any news from Bale or Nolan. But wait Bale changed his tune a little bit and there is no need to fear Nolan's departure from the successful Bat franchise, according to Bale “Chris is the guy who will be making the calls about that,” And until he does, I have nothing to tell you.”

Not much more to go on but at least Bale has confirmed that at least he sees Nolan as the man still in charge.

When asked if Bale saw any similarities with the iconic role of John Conner to Bruce Wayne/Batman, Bale states: “I don't even begin to compare the two of them. I just don't do that with characters,’ he states. “I don't do that, I never do it myself. I don't even sit back with myself and self-analyze. I just know that I do enjoy these characters for whatever reason.”

Bale goes on to explain his lack of self-analysis: “I like to maintain a certain mystery with myself on why. Because that makes you, pursuing it through the course of the movie,” You put your finger on something in too articulate a manner, and it ceases to have that mystery about it.”

Bale goes on to say “In honesty, I often start asking myself these questions after being interviewed, when people who were not involved with filming see correlations,” he states. “Similarities between my characters might be very obvious to you, but to me, I keep myself in the dark.”

Bale is an ass, and a talented one at that :) I say that of course with all due respect... it's in the geneva convention, look it up.

And NOOOOOOOOOO he didn't "reveal" jack shit about Nolan. He never said he was on board, that was false information. He said and i quote "Chris is the guy who will be making the calls about that"... about WHAT SPECIFICALLY??? A sequel??? So Chris will be the guy who will say if HIMSELF is on board or not, period!!!

Do any of you actually act? I'm a theatre major. I probably know more about characters than most of you. Keeping yourself guessing is probably just Bale's way of keeping his characters away from his personal life. It's more common than you think. Hell, i might try it. I havent stopped biting my lip since my last play.

Speaking of periods, are you on one Shaman? Nolan will come back. He's done so much for the franchise and Warner Bros. not to.

Jib7z- So he's an elusive [frick]er cause... he acts. I'm thinking more along the lines of him NOT knowing since Nolan HIMSELF hasn't shat and takes the pot for a safety blanket!

Deathlok- Lately and until they prove me wrong with Green Lantern, DC's the "tampon" that's not absorbing like it should and IMO, Bale ain't nothing but the string that dangles!!! LMFAO!!! :P

Well if Nolan don't do it, get the boys on the WATCHMEN crew to do it!!! ; D

Damn, i just hope we don't get RIDDLER or PENGUIN, need new villains! ; )

i took drama class in high school so i can say it does get [frick]ing annoying and unprofessional when some [frick]ing kid walks in front of you when your trying to do a mother[frick]ing scene

Not that I dislike Nolan (Momento is one of my favorites) they should wait about 10 years and let Miller do Dark Knight Returns.

Bohemiben - Hazar! Bravo! Well said sir! And other cheers of an encouraging nature!

Jib7z - You did come across as a bit of a tool. If that was a genuine mistake then fair enough. But you don't need to study theater to work out what you just said whilst upon that almighty pedestal of yours. Don't talk down to people, especially while explaining something so blatantly obvious to even the simplest of life forms. You don't know who your talking to, no one does! Whoever you are (me included) chances are there is someone on this site better than you at any given talent.

**disclaimer - feel free to talk down to "supermike", he's proven time and time again where he stands on the evolutionary ladder!**

Uhh...that doesn't prove anything. That's just Bale trying to choke Nolan into submission.

Nolan's a pus anyways. If he hasn't signed on already, then that means he is obviously having mixed feeling about a 3rd one.

...I MEAN, TDK made major bank at the box office; wasn't it 2nd behind Titanic? How do you not sign on for another movie right after those results?

The guy is a hatchet wound...a sissy...a P.A.B.

...**** it, let McG do it. I'm sure he has a bigger wanger anyways.

I pray that Nolan will be back-he is an amzing director! For any of you who havent seen The Prestige (starring Bale, Jackman and Caine) watch it-it shows that he can do more than just Batman!

MarkCassidy - 5/15/2009, 3:15 PM
All of Nolans movies are amazing, the guy is an auteur not just a director..i realize how pretentious that sounds but its true! And he prob didnt sign on straight away because he didnt have a story! Would you like this movie to be made soley on the success of TDK? We would bet something like Matrix revolutions, or X3! Im glad he wont go ahead without a decent idea and story.

That being said i think hes a bit of a tool! Now put some "super" into Batman your silly bugger!
ThunderCougarFalconBird
ThunderCougarFalconBird - 5/15/2009, 3:24 PM
joshw24 - thanks for the PS3 add! Yes, The Prestige is a great piece of film making, just like all of Nolans work. TDK is only at the tip of his CV due to Heaths death. I mean no disrespect but ALL of his film are oozing quality, some of which surpass TDK in many ways.

Macksimus - Nolan is a "one at a time" guy. He only signed on for TDK once he had nothing else to occupy his thoughts, he will do the same with the 3rd. He has another project in the works so he will only sign on when that nears an end.

If he doesn't sign on it will be a big shame. There are people out there that can give us a great Batman but it would be nice to keep the Nolan feel for a trilogy at least.

BillyBlack - 5/15/2009, 3:30 PM
Nolan will do the third one. Warners will let him have his space, they are housing his next flick anyway. He'll finish the 3, then walk. Just an opinion...

Kind of like Rorschach calling Nolan's Insomnia amazing. Sorry brotha, booooring!

MarkCassidy - 5/15/2009, 3:45 PM
haha, yeah a lot of people find it a bit sleep inducing..see what i did there!! But i really liked it. Certainly slow moving, but great performances and i just love Nolans style.

@ROR-01 I got an ex GF with a Vag like a Catcher's Mit.... that was Amazing! Nolan is really good at what he does , and what he does, isnt very nice. Ha ! see what i did... my point is i think Nolan is a little egotistical and would rewrite everything from the codices of the Mayan Empire to Debbie Does Dallas so it all fits into "His Universe". Maybe he should direct Two GIrls One Cup , Part Deuce... The Thunder From Down Undies!"

BillyBlack , Betty, Betty?...Betty. and LEE777 please tell Shaman that one was for the four of ya. Gosh i feel like Capt. Planet right now, and a cold beer.

To Jib and bohem:(theater person as well) From other interviews, I've garnered that Bale is a bit of a "Method" Actor and has trouble separating his personal from his character, which is one of the reasons(from his mouth) that the blowup on the terminator set happened. My interpretation is that he inhabits his characters so much while he is doing them that he is afraid if he analyzes them too much, he won't be able to become them anymore. Basically The Centipedes Dilemma

Thats funny Shibazz, i have an ex with a catchers mit like a vag! Playing ball is a nightmare! He is egotistical, but he gets the job done..i dont have to want to have him round for cocktails! Although that would be fun..i would do Bales Bat voice all night until he dropped his gentlemanly exterior and loafed me

I really don't get why some idiots are calling Bale a Dick or an Ass the guy seriously hasn't done anything to deserve that. Oh wait that's not true we have recorded footage of him losing his temper on a guy. I mean I don't know about you people, but I've never gotten pissed at someone. That's just inhuman.

Seriously get over your selves Celebrities are humans to. They have the right to get pissed about things just like anyone else. You couldn't possibly comprehend what state of mind he was in or how his day was going. You don't even know the guy and you sit back and call him a dick or an ass. It's pathetic.

I got a cold beer and a cather's mit, maybe I'll workshop it in my neighbor's front yard tomorrow morning. We can scout locations in Austrailia later. Wasn't it Good Will Hunting were Afleck's brother humps the catcher's mit? MAAAATT DAAAAAMOOOON!!!!

Rorschach

Nolan is a ponce. A hell of a film maker, but I have the feeling he wouldn't be able to handle much, if any, ribbing from us common folk. I'd rather hit him in the face with a hot shephard's pie.

Wow more bashing people you don't even know so now lets freely insult Nolan who has done even less negative spotlight things than Bale and yet he is some how a bad person as well. The internet is so pathetic these days.
BillyBlack

Wow more complaining about people having fun with celebrities.
These days? The internet has been pathetic since day one. Bashing people you don't know is the main purpose of the internet, any Kevin Smith movie since 1999 will tell you that. Who gives a rusty trombone if people wanna lampoon Bale, or your man crush Nolan for that matter? Everyone is fair game... or no one is.

everybody started calling bale cocky and arrogant only after his infamous lil rant on the sets of t4,before that nobody thought of him that way, on the the other hand everybody seems to worship that sarcastic troll RDJ , am i missing something? coz clearly has anybody seen how RDJ carries himself in the media?? watch his act on the oscars red carpet.

I didnt hear anyone say Nolan was a bad person! I said hes a bit of a tool because thats how he comes across to me. If he came across as a helluva guy id say that. Pretty simple really

realblood33--no i think it was after he yelled at and then slapped his mom that everyone started saying he was intense and weird. After he blew up on his director of photography, Then, people started to say he was cocky and arrogant. Id say the latter is better than slapping your mom.

My personal title for "Insomnia" is "The Battle of the Penile Noses". But no the fog scenes were cool.

BillyBlack yes your right because I'm defending some one I clearly have a man crush on them. The thing is I would defend anyone being needlessly bashed. Especially celebrities who really only get bashed because some pathetic people are jealous of them and will take any normal thing they do and freak out when a famous person does it. The only people who actually deserve to be bashed on the internet are the people who use it for trolling.

Nice to see Betty considers Bale guilty of something that the police didn't. Just goes to show the police consider you innocent you still have to answer to the internet.

Memento is onte of those movies that kind of change your life in a way. The "system" that Guy Pierce´s character uses to realize what he has to do next, was beautifully translated into the film thanks to Nolan and you get more and more hooked by the minutes. sometimes i use that system myself..

for example right now, i said like: WTH was i going to do? THEN i see my hands on the laptop and said: Oh!,yes. i was about to post some stuff in this thread!haha LOL! ;-]

stupify_me - 5/16/2009, 9:05 AM
Yawn wow that was pointless Betty.

SirJediFrank. Memento was a great movie. I think it's a bit overrated, but still very brilliant I loved it I just wish people would lay off the greatest movie of all time hype on it. It was great for sure though.
SirJediFrank
SirJediFrank - 5/16/2009, 9:38 AM
stupify_me. I agree. Not saying it is THE greatest of all time, but remember ANY single movie can mean A LOT OR NOTHING for every different person... it depends a lot of WHEN you saw it (if you were a teen, a father, etc), and what impact it had on you.

Many people would say Titanic is the greatest movie of all time, for example, but maybe those people had NEVER seen (and maybe never will) movies like Citizen Kane.

I am a Star Wars geek but to close my eyes to the rest of the movies ever made and to be made would be, well, stupid! ;-]
