On working with Christopher Nolan:

“I really follow Chris. He could go marching off a cliff and I'd be right there with him. He's just such an exceptionally talented director and writer, and so really I just kind of roll with it from one picture to the next. He gives us something amazing as the audience, whether it's a Batman picture or The Prestige or Insomnia or Inception. It's something completely different every time and I'm always there for the ride.”

“It always begins with his word. It's always like reading Chris's words and getting my early inspiration that way and then when I start to break it down in my head then Chris and I get together and we have conversations and it really is just a series of conversations that leads to the visual blueprint for the film. It's a great experience with Chris. We've been working together for eleven years and it's a fantastic collaboration – and one that I cherish.”

Regarding the Batman films:

“I didn't really look at the comic books for inspiration for the Batman films. We looked at much more realistic kind of films, more gritty films, things, oddly enough, like Apocalypse Now. We wanted it to be a real film. We wanted Batman to be a real person, and so the look followed that. So much more gritty than the previous films have been.”

Who will the villians be? I have it on good authority that the main villian is Anarky.
But I think Dr. Death would be the best choice.
Goyer also mentioned Hugo Strange.
The theme is vigilantes.
Very post kick-ass.
Has Batman inspiration been a good thing or a bad thing and should he continue to be Batman is going to be the big question.
It will be the last one. The finale.

Apparantly Hush is Nolan's favorite villian. And this is his last movie. Do the math.

It's very disappointing that Nolan already said it won't be the Riddler. This saddens me but the clues that point to Clayface, my 2nd favorite villain, make me happy. Let's not forget about Mr. Freeze. He needs a good redeeming after being played by Ahhnold... or just forgotten.

Nolan has so far dismisssed:
The Joker.
Two-Face.
The Riddler.
Mr. Freeze.
@Wallymandius88-
Clayface would be good if they did the Basil Karlo Earth 2 version. If they adapted those original comics with Basil Karlo in them. They were very dark and realistic and would fit Nolan's vision to a tea.
But I could say the same for the original appearance of Dr. Death in that 2-parter, in the forties, where Batman sees him supposedly burning to Death, but he survives, sans-face. That would be awesome.

Black Mask deserves to feature in this film. He got it all. He even fits. The general public deserves to experience how scary he is. How brutal and sadistic he can get.

BMP!

@DukeAcureds2010 agreed! And that's what they were saying, Basil Karlo's much darker version. I'm very excited and hopeful. It's a villain never done before in the Batman movies and I think it would be great to see, and so would Dr. Death.

I agree with ^Angelus! Black Mask is like a scary mobster type of villain which I if you've ever seen TOm Hardy in Bronson you know right away that he can be a hell of a scary dude. Its a real bummer that this is Christopher Nolan's last batman film though! I really hope to see more Batman films in the future though, hopefully they will be directed by Frank Miller who did Sin City, 300, and The Spirit

Dr. Death for the Dark Knight Rises villian! That two parter in Detective Comics 29 and 30 would fit seamlessly into Chris Nolan's Bat-verse.
Though, instead of "Dr. Death" they would have to refer to him as Dr. Karl Hellfern.
He was the first ever Batman Villian, making his debut in Batman's third ever comic book.
He is long overdue for an appearance in any other media.

I'm with Supermaustify and Angelus. Black Mask would be good. Dr. Death could work for him like he did in War Games and recently, with the new Jeremiah Arkham Black Mask. But they should definately do the Roman Black Mask, not the Arkham Black Mask.
