DC Comics trademarks "Nightwing on bat"

As if things weren't heating up enough around Nightwing, now DC has registered a rather specific trademark for the character...

Bleeding Cool reports that DC Comics has trademarked an image described as "Nightwing on a bat", nobody knows what this looks like exactly but the logo that appears on the covers of the Nightwing comic certainly comes to mind! What does this mean?

Recently Nightwing has been getting a lot of attention across the entire spectrum from all kinds of media. Coming to the forefront in comics with a very "character-defining" arc in Forever Evil, proving to be an ever popular character in animation and games, and even being rumored to appear in Zack Snyder's upcoming Batman Vs. Superman as well as the CW's Arrow.

It goes without saying that the name "Nightwing" on top of the Batman logo will cause anyone looking at it to see the link with his far more well known former mentor.

What do you think? Is it safe to say by now that at least something is coming up for the world's best acrobat, although we cannot say for sure what? Is this part of the "big push" Geoff Johns said is in store for the character?

Nightwing is cool but only as a part of The Bat-Clan, other than that what's the point of him? I prefer Jason Todd.

don't know what to think about this. Basically this could be just another rumour. Created from that last rumour about WB pushing Nightwing to be in MOS sequel. And so it goes ... It's like a chain reaction.

@crashrendar

I think the Robin-hate was instilled in a lot of people long before Nolan came along, but I agree it's sad. Lots of missed opportunities.

This would be the character Dan DuhDio wanted to kill off back in Infinite Crisis because he's "redundant and irrelevant," yes?

Love Richard Grayson. One of my favorite comic characters.

Have all the new 52 issues from #1, plus zero year and annual.

One of those unique heroes that if you'v been reading comics for long enough or just read enough comics you'v "grown up" with him.

I disagree but not strongly. I think dick and Barbra older would be cool but have tim show up as robin. And if they branch off and make a red hood movie it will always be open for it

Robin needs another chance on the big screen. Put Robin in before Nightwing.

Nightwing is my personal favorite character of The Bat family. He is an interesting character and i'm glad there's been a lot of attention that's been brought to the character.

I really hope with all these rumors of Nightwing being in the DCCU is true. Nightwing is a really cool character and I want the non comic book readers to see that. I also think Dick Grayson should be in his thirties. I always think him and Barbara Gordon should be around thirty.

So if Dick is in the film I hope they find an actor that is around thirty. If the extended Bat family will be in the solo Batman movie I hope Barb will be in it playing the part of the Oracle.

Plus if the Red Hood shows up I would like to see him be in his mid twenties. Plus if Tim will be Robin in the movie I hope he will be either seventeen or eighteen.

I think the extended family can work. You just need to make Batman the main lead. Whatever your opinion of the X-Men movies are they have a big cast but give Wolverine the most screen time. So change that to Batman and it will work.

I know it will never happen but I would also enjoy seeing Cassandra Cain as Batgirl.

That all be said I just hope this is more for him on the big screen instead of another comic book story.

Robin done correctly could work, look at Hit girl, which seemed like it wouldn't work on screen!!

Tim is awesome and Stephanie was a kick ass Batgirl. I'd like to see them in the Movieverse.
