Looks like Christopher Nolan has one more surprise up his sleeve. Back when we got our first look at the flying vehicle, known as "The Bat" there was rumblings that it was actually a helicopter of sorts. But, with each new set image there were no signs that a propeller would be attached to the vehicle, unless it was added later with CGI. And then we saw actual footage of "The Bat" during the prologue's sizzle reel, and still no propeller. Ah, but what we didn't expect was that Nolan would place the propeller underneath the vehicle, and not have one, but actually two propellers. Yes, this is just a toy, but I would not be shocked if this is actually how the "The Bat" will be capable of flight in the film.

The Bat is an interactive and action-packed toy based on the new movie The Dark Knight Rises. The Bat features the geometric design of the flying vehicle seen in the film. With the spinning propellers on the bottom, kids can pretend to "lift off" and "fly" the vehicle by holding the handle on top. The cockpit opens up and seats one Batman QuickTek action figure (sold separately) or most 3.75-inch action figures. The Bat also features two launching projectiles and realistic battle sounds. And by pressing the button on the handle, kids can launch the special Launch & Attack Batman action figure out of The Bat, sending it flying up to nine feet away. To launch the figure, pull back on the bottom lever. Slide in the Batman figure on the track. Close the lid and press the button, and the Batman figure will zoom out. - timetoplaymag.com

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th 2012 and stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred Pennyworth, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate.

Also, how could the kids "re-create" the scenes from the movie if they can't even see the movie. LMAO, fail.

Why not?
JDUKE25
JDUKE25 - 4/23/2012, 11:44 AM
@rbfn04 because the kids that can't see the movie won't be able to "re-create" the scenes that haven't seen......

@JDUKE why kids can't see the movie? Last I checked, they could. Unless something changed...

The design on that thing is still bad. And, going for realism, Bats is sitting in a big "hey, I'm here shoot me" zone.

If I were still a child (physically) I would totally sit on Chris the toy guys lap. He does need a bit more baritone in his voice for my taste though.

I get the growing feeling that this movie will be offensive to Batman fans of the last 40 years on almost every concievable level. Bat-gyro? Really?!
JDUKE25
JDUKE25 - 4/23/2012, 11:51 AM
@rbfn04 some kids that are younger than 6 may not get to see it. Depends if the parents let them. May be too intense for them.

@JDUKE ok, but I was pointing out, doens't mean kids won't get to see it. I let my at the time 3 year old watch Batman Begins and he was cool with it.
MisterBabadook

So he's going to jump out of the copter mid flight and glide, abandoning it as wreckage? That's pretty badass.
SpiderFan35
SpiderFan35 - 4/23/2012, 11:57 AM
I think Jdukes point is that this is not a cartoon, yes I suppose parents could bring their 7 year old to it but the assumption is that they wouldn't.

The propellers would explain how it could maneuver in the city.

I like the handle on the toy version, looks like a dustbuster lol.
JDUKE25
JDUKE25 - 4/23/2012, 11:57 AM
@rbfn04 just depends on the kids and the parents if they see it. I think some of the scenes from TDK with the Joker were too intense for younger kids and from what we've heard Bane is supposed to be more brutal than him.
