As we draw closer to Joker: Folie à Deux's production start date (cameras are reportedly scheduled to role in LA and New York this November), more details about Todd Phillips' sequel are starting to slip through.
We recently learned that the majority of the movie will take place in Arkham Asylum, and a new rumor may now explain those much-discussed musical elements.
According to our old friends at the Weekly Planet Podcast, Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn will have a bigger role than originally reported, with the story playing out entirely from her perspective. Apparently, this is where the song and dance numbers come in, as Harls "views her relationship with Joker" through musical sequences.
Of course, the title "Folie à Deux" suggests that Fleck will share these delusions.
It's an interesting direction to take this sequel in, for sure, but Phillips has clearly earned a lot of trust at the studio after the first film proved to be a such a massive box office success.
Joaquin Phoenix and Zazie Beetz are set to reprise their respective roles as Arthur Fleck and Sophie Dummond, and we recently learned that Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener and Jacob Lofland have also joined the cast.
Joker: Folie à deux is set to hit theaters on October 4, 2024. You can check out the announcement teaser below.
