Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the Joker in Batman 3?

High probability of seeing the joker in The Dark Knight sequel...

many people have have noticed that actors Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Heath ledger look very similar, and perhaps so did chris nolan.

In the third trailer for inception Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in post movie title scene.

This leaves me to believe that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be the joker in the dark knight even if a cameo.

chris nolan has a history of recycling his actors as seen with christian bale and Michael Caine being in both "the prestige" & " The Dark Knight " so why not use Levitt as the joker?

what do you think?

I highly doubt it. First of, I am no Ledger fan, but I am a Gordon Levitt fan since 3rd Rock from the Sun. He wont recast the Joker because he is afraid of disrespecting Ledger and the family with someone else playing the "mind blowing-incredible-reaaally super awesome oscar worthy" performance of Ledger's Joker.(Nicholson is still king!)
But Gordon Levitt got it made now, certainly. No double casting for the Joker, thats 99,9% garanteed!
Beware "the sentimental and obviously fake people who never cared about Ledger until he died like the movie showbiz and idiot fans" power!

I gotta admit he does look like Heath Ledger.

why wouldnt he recast joker,that would be a nonsense for me!
if movies worked on that premise then hollywood would come to a standstill. yeah ledger played the part well(highly blown out of all proportion IMO but well all the same) but it aint untouchable, the joker cannot be retired because someone played him well then topped himself!.
i say yeah give it to levitt and let the ledger groupies bubble into thier cheerios.

nobody in hollywood cares about any one but money and if levitt playing joker equals money than, levitt will be the joker. this aint baseball where numbers ( roles) are retired because of remarkable talent

@ Erickz - I will, if you go and cry infront of a poster of Heath Ledger, telling him that you love him, miss him, want him. While sleeping on your Ledger cockshaped pillow =)- I know this is probably way outta line, but someone ate my CHEERIOS!

@Shiftysharp

The Joker doesn't need to be retired, but Heath's Joker or the Joker from the Nolan series does. I think since Heath beasted that role then he should not be replaced.

@ Angelus

Heath Ledger was amazing in that performance. and Jack is not the king.. sorry guy

Starsapphire -Because life isn't fair and only the good die young. And pricks like Fidel Castro, Ahmadinejad and Kim Jong-il are still sucking air.

Ledger did a great job but I agree that we cannot simply retire the Joker because of his superb performance. The character will be around for a long time (longer than all of us) and he will be portrayed many times over. Having said that, why would we bring the Joker back so soon after DK? Should we not invest the time on other characters that we are all dying to see on the big screen? The Scarecrow had a small cameo in DK, but that should not be what happens to Joker. I say bring on the other villains and lets let the jester take some time off for a little while.

@ THABATMAN - Dont say sorry, because there's nothing to be sorry for =)
Heath Ledgers performance was good, I cant deny that; it was different than Nicholsons but I enjoy latters take more. However you cannot deny that Heath Ledgers performance has been blown INSANELY out of proportions because of his death(!) - Even getting an Oscar just because he is dead and everybody got the Ledger hysteria. His performance was good, very good, but Peter Finch deserved his Oscar, Ledger did not. Thats my opinion, I am sure people are going to hate me for this but in the name of Hal Jordan, it's still true!
And I also think Joseph Gordon Levitt would do a better Joker than Ledger.
Beware the idiotic Oscar panels and critics power!

@ Erickz; My grandmother isnt dead, and if you think that "go [frick] your dead grandma" is insulting then you are quite wrong. I am sorry but the fact still remains that no one really cared about Ledger until he died, everybody loved him after his death and his almost last role, like you. Its like Michael pedophile Jackson.
Beware Erickz insulting power!

Recasting Joker would be so disrespectful, Ledger put himself into the Joker and putting Another actor as the same character, in the same trilogy is just mad.

Angelus - though it seems Ericks may be suffering from a mild case of douchebaggery, I am going to disagree with you on your point about Ledger's performance. Perhaps it did get more attention, but it does not take away than he did waaaaaay better than anyone expected (considering just about the entire comic book community was calling for Nolan's head for his choice). Whether or not he deserved the Oscar is always going to be debatable (as is the case with most choices anyway, regardless of death), but he did an awesome job and IMO was the best work of his career. But as I said b4, eventually, someone else will have to step in, we should just be patient and wait a bit longer.
StephenJ
StephenJ - 5/8/2010, 7:52 PM
@Angelus

I will agree with you on that. considering it was his one of his last performances, that one reason that TDK is so high on the box office list. I myself saw it 5 times in theaters(I work at a movie theater though soo it kinda doesnt count towards the box office i guess) but the movie was damn good. and Ledgers performance was absolutely amazing. No one can nor will do the it like Heath did it. THE JOKER SHOULD NOT BE RECAST!! He worked hard as you can tell in the movie and now he is dead. Even if Nobody cared about the guy before his role as the Joker he still deserves the respect that the Character he established in the Nolan series be his and nobody elses.

@Angelus,
WTF!!! I know Erickz is in the wrong when he entered the "Yo Grandma" thing but you just went and disrespected Michael Jackson like that. WTF man??? That wasn't even funny for real bro. You went too [frick]ing far with that. I wonder what you do with your life and you explained that Heath Ledger insult too well. I starting to think you really do that have those type pillows. I aint trying to insult you, im jus saying wat I think and that u went too damn far wit Micheal Jackson like that

Guys you are missing the point of being an actor, the actors perform characters. Ok heath gaves us the best perfomance ever, but there is allways the option of other actor to improve himself and give some respect for what ledger made or maybe go far than that and gives us another great performance.
Angelus
Angelus - 5/9/2010, 4:18 AM
@ Promorus - I went too far with Jackson? I am sorry if I insulted you with the Jackson commentary. The pedophile part is maybe up to debate. You cannot make the idols too untouchable. I respect Elvis Presley's incredible voice, but he turned into a fat, ugly republican hypocrite in the end, and he was REALLY good looking! I am not gay, but you gotta admit he was one handsome fellow, almost as handsome as William Shatner(ahahaha). Anyways, sorry if I insulted you but I believe its okay to make fun of dead famous celebrities, not that I do it often. That Michael Jackson is more different than the others and a special case is not right.
I didnt understand what you meant about the pillows though, and sorry again.

well i would love to see the joker return but not levitts playing the part. maybe james franco. i would also love to see harley quin,and the riddler,and maybe bane as a side villain but done right.these are the villains i think should be the big baddies,and have the mad hatter,vantriliquist,and other should have a clear cameo maybebatman walking past their cells and them talking to him as he passes. arkum asylum would be a awesome place for the third and final showdown.

CRISPIN GLOVER for JOKER by the way! : P

Heath Ledger very last role is "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" not "The Dark Knight".

if Chris Nolan have to recast the Joker in his Batman sequel well you got to expect it. recasting a actor to play the Joker is not disrespectful at all. you cant let the Joker just die like that cause an actor died. Heath did amazing Joker and no one cant take that away from him at all but remember the show must go on.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus had to recast and they had Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell to play Heath Ledger character Tony in the movie.

even Harry Potter films the character Dumbledore first played by Richard Harris when he died actor Michael Gambon was recast to play Dumbledore.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt could play The Joker but im not sure they will bring the character back. they most likely going to focus on fresh new villains to join the fun "Black Mask" come to mind.

@LEEE777

Crispin Glover as the Joker makes sense his a great actor. but i feel if they keep on doing more batman films he could play a older Joker.

yes, i think he is a great choice for a substitute. but i think we need a little break from joker so we have a chance to adjust

sebz - 5/9/2010, 7:19 PM
If he does, it would be a no speaking role with him in a cell at Arkham... I highly doubt it would be a big part, but because the Joker wasn't killed, they can't just ignore the character completely...

Why would they retire the Joker just b/c of Ledger's O.D.?

That's stupid. Maybe if he would've played lesser known villain, sure don't re-cast, but the Joker has to be in future films.

Get over it people. JGL is a pretty good actor, and they could do worse...

Stumblin - 5/10/2010, 9:13 AM
I don't understand how replacing Heath with someone else is disrespecting. I mean they did it with The Crow, it's a business, they're actors, Heath does not OWN Joker, he played him, he did a good job, now it's someone else's turn.

If there was a good enough story involving the Joker again, I'd have no doubt in my mind Chris Nolan would consider getting another actor for the Joker. From what I've read, he doesn't seem to be the person that gives two shits about either rabidly anal fanboys or the general public thinks; he just wants to make a masterpiece of a film with a great story.
joekerr93
joekerr93 - 5/10/2010, 1:21 PM
joseph gordon levitt as the riddler. i loved ledgers joker but that isnt why i say this. nolan is only making one more batman movie, right. so why do the same villain again, when the joker is done with. the riddler was pretty much made for chris nolan, it would be perfect and i could see jgl playing a younger riddler than what is conventional.
joekerr93
joekerr93 - 5/10/2010, 1:22 PM
this is nolans epic, let the riddler and a few others in sub plots and cameos round out the vision
joekerr93
joekerr93 - 5/10/2010, 1:24 PM
he should hav zsasz, deadshot, penguin controlling the mob all on the side, maybe a doctor fries for someone (but not the supervillain, just a regular good guy), and the riddler at the center of everything f***ing with batman.
Stumblin
Stumblin - 5/10/2010, 1:29 PM
I see the Riddler is the red headed step child of the Joker. He's a lame ass villain and Batman has many other worthier adversaries than some schmuck writing riddles. I'd like Batman to deal with Bane, Killer Crock, Catwoman, or the Penguin.
