POISON IVY Solo Movie Rumored; THE MANDALORIAN Star Katee Sackhoff Wants To Play The Villain

A new rumor doing the rounds is claiming that three Batman spin-offs are in the works, one of which will focus on Poison Ivy. The Mandalorian star Katee Sackhoff really wants to play the role...

The recent news that a Clayface movie from Midnight Mass director Mike Flanagan is currently being discussed at Warner Bros. has been followed up by a rumor relating to two other potential Batman-related spin-offs.

The r/DCEUleaks subreddit - which has been known to share accurate info in the past - claims that Scarecrow and Poison Ivy solo films are also in development.

The Ivy project is said to be inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne's gothic short story, Rappaccini's Daughter, which focuses on a medical researcher in Padua who grows a garden of poisonous plants. He brings up his daughter to tend the plants, and she becomes resistant to the poisons, but in the process she herself becomes poisonous to others.

It remains to be seen if these potential projects ever move forward, of course, but if the Poison Ivy film does materialize, The Mandalorian star Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan) would jump at the chance to play the lead.

"I can't quite say that I would sell my firstborn, because she's quite special to me [laughs]. But I would like sh*t twice and die to play Poison Ivy," Sackhoff told ComicBook.com when asked if she'd be open to a role in Flanagan's Clayface film.

The Battlestar Galactica alum is no stranger to the character, having voiced Pamela Isley in the animated Batman: The Long Halloween movies.

What do you make of these rumors? Do you think Sackhoff would be a good pick to play Poison Ivy in live-action? Be sure to drop us a comment down below.

Think those are perfect villains for specials. Not everything needs to be a movie or a show. Some stories can be told in 45-60 minutes, and I feel these are among them.

I'm curious about Clayface from Reeves' Bat-universe.

Maybe...

During Sofia's years in Arkham, she met Basil Karlo. He is the perpetrator of the famous "Clayface massacre".

Basil Karlo was a method actor and he believed that he was the character. Basil was unaware of reality and Basil as Clayface murdered his co-stars during a fateful day of filming. The only surviving actress, dubbed The Final Girl by the press, testified during the trial and Basil Karlo was declared insane.

During The Penguin Show, Sofia needs to replace Oswald with an impostor. So she could have control of the families faithful to the Penguin.

She frees her old friend, and Basil Karlo becomes Oswald Cobblepot through prosthetics and makeup. Finally, the false Penguin and Sofia unify Gotham City's crime families while the real Oswald is kidnapped and savagely tortured.

Poison Ivy should be a 'supernatural', elemental character - akin to Swamp Thing.

Not some 'Eco-warrior chick in a skimpy bikini'. If they don't get that part right in live action (they never have in the past) then it will STINK.

Also 'Katee Sackhoff' - the surname alone makes my blood cold. It sounds like ...

"Castration".

@BillyBatson1000 - OG Ivy wasn't even poisonous herself, she wore poisoned lipstick. The only thing remotely meta about her was her natural immunity.

But I would like to see a full on modern comics version of Ivy with crazy super plant-powers and green skin, in the DCU. And since they're doing a Swamp Thing movie, there is the possibility that we could see an Ivy connected to the 'Green'.

That's if this movie isn't another unrelated Batman villain movie without Batman in a self-contained universe with multiple sequels, etc.

Or an April Fools.

@ObserverIO - You've raised an excellent point right there - potentially why DC's 'cinematic universe' has lagged behind Marvel's. Marvel has never been shy in adding to the attributes/era changes of its characters - they have always felt contemporary. Probably because they inhabit an established reality - real geography/social standards. Whereas DC has been sluggish to update many of its core characters who often feel dated beyond current relevance (Shazam?) - or superseded by newer characters with similar back-stories. When I think of Poison Ivy (even though I own a copy of her first appearance Batman #181 complete with poster) I only think of the more modernized green elemental. So yes, I'd like to see THAT version. (+ April Fools - strong possibility too)

If done right Poison Ivy could be great. She has a lot of potential if taken more seriously than Batman and Robin
