The Batman director Matt Reeves recently "broke the internet" by sharing some jaw-dropping photos of the Batmobile that Robert Pattinson's version of the Dark Knight will drive around Gotham City. It's a grounded take on the iconic vehicle, but one comic book fans have responded positively to.

Recently, a user on Twitter claimed to have found a hidden Bat symbol on the Batmobile, and now The Batman concept artist Ash Thorp has confirmed that was an intentional addition.

The fact Bruce Wayne and his loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth took the time to include an "Easter Egg" like this might be a little silly, but it's a cool nod to both the comic books and the Batman mythos. Plus, Batman using bat imagery like this in his weapons and vehicles has been a staple of his adventures for years, so Reeves deserves a lot of credit for finding a way to include that here too.

Interestingly, Thorp adds that there's a second bat symbol hidden on the Batmobile when it's looked at from a different angle, so it's definitely going to be fun trying to find that.

When Reeves revealed the Batmobile, it was widely assumed that we'd see it in action in set videos and photos, but that hasn't happened...yet. With any luck, it will be seen soon, because fans are understandably anxious to see as much from The Batman as possible ahead of it June 2021 release.

@Ha1frican - the engine flat out doesnt have the ears this guy claims it does. He literally just drew a bat symbol on the back then said "look at this secret i found"

@Origame - that’s the problem with the fandom these days.

They make these ridiculous leaps of of what THEY WANT TO SEE. Look us guys on here we speculate and share what we want to see but it never feels too crazy and far fetched. This feels so forced and like quite the reach.

"A Cleverly Hidden Bat Symbol"

Yeah, because Batman is oh so clever when it comes to hiding his symbol on everything.

@FearTheLiving - You expect a man who wears a batsuit and a cape to be subtle? 😂

@RolandD - I don't. That's why I'm opposed to the whole "Cleverly Hidden Bat Symbol" angle. Batman has never been subtle when it comes to his branding.

@FearTheLiving - Oh , that’s where you were going with that. I see what you did there (now that you’ve spelled it out for me). 😅

@WakandaTech - Why so much hype for Black Adam? The writer wrote Rampage and Scoob, lol, and the director did Jungle Cruise

Absolutely love the old school car look!

But that outline...

I mean, obviously they use certain shapes in the design to be reminiscent of a bat, so yeah, on that level I believe it’s intentional, but not quite the “we definitely created the full specific shape of the bat symbol there.”
