THE BATMAN: Nicolas Cage Says He Wants To Play Egghead In A Future Batverse Movie

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent star Nicolas Cage has shared his love for classic '60s Batman series villain Egghead, and it sounds like he very much wants to play the character!

Nicolas Cage is known to be an avid comic book fan, and after starring as Ghost Rider in two rather underwhelming efforts and coming very close to playing the Man of Steel in Tim Burton's defunct Superman Lives, it sounds like the legendary actor has set his sights on joining the Batverse.

While speaking about his latest film, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, at SXSW, Cage said he'd be interested in playing none other than Egghead in a future Batman movie. The Mandy star even has an idea for a "terrifying" take on the character, and told the interviewer to let Warner Bros. know!

Egghead was created for the '60s Batman TV series, and was played by horror icon Vincent Price. Believing himself to be "the world's smartest criminal", he often used egg-related puns in his speech. The character was eventually introduced in the comics, but is generally perceived as more of a comedic bad guy.

It's difficult to imagine Egghead fitting in to Matt Reeves' more serious, grounded Batverse, but if anyone can pull it off, it's the world's greatest living actor!

This probably won't happen, of course, but are there any other DC or Marvel villains you think Cage would be a good fit for? Drop us a comment down below.

Gunn and Cage could do something really crazy and fun with Egghead.

Odd choice lol but him working with Matt Reeves does pretty sound interesting tbf.

Also I remember him being lined up to play the Scarecrow in Joel Schumacher's unmade Batman & Robin sequel which probably would've ended up with him going full-Cage while surrounded by Schumacher's neon aesthetic; sounds like it would've been quite the trip lmao.

He would fit perfectly in Reeves Batman world. Throw him in a scene in Arkham, perfect.

Whatever film endeavors Nic Cage wants to do, let him do it. Or at least try to. (His Tim Burton Superman movie.)

Would love to see him as a Batman rogue, and he'd fit perfectly in the gothic aesthetic Reeves is going for.
