IMAX screenings of The Batman began yesterday evening, and the response from fans has thus far been every bit as positive as the critical reaction. Now, two new posters have been released featuring some beautiful artwork from comic book artist Francesco Francavilla.
He's no stranger to the world of the Dark Knight (his unique spin on the Caped Crusader has resulted in some of the most highly sought after covers you'll find), and really does the hero justice here.
It's always fun to see an artist who has worked on a character in the comic books put their spin on a live-action version. DC Comics has actually published a number of variant covers featuring the heroes and villains from Matt Reeves' movie, though we'd argue that this poster has stolen the show. The kicker is that you'll actually be able to take a shot at buying one from Mondo tomorrow!
"Delivering the definitive take on the World’s Greatest Detective, The Batman is a sweeping, cinematic masterpiece that’s both DC’s best film and one of the most captivating, relentless, and unforgettable comic book movies ever made," we said in our 5* review of the DC Comics movie.
The Batman finds the Caped Crusader in his early years, struggling to balance rage with righteousness as he investigates a disturbing mystery that has terrorized Gotham City.
Joining Robert Pattinson in the star-studded ensemble are Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle; Paul Dano as Edward Nashton; Jeffrey Wright as the GCPD’s James Gordon; John Turturro as Carmine Falcone; Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson; Barry Keoghan as Officer Stanley Merkel; Jayme Lawson as mayoral candidate Bella Reál; with Andy Serkis as Alfred; and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot.
The Batman is set to be released in theaters on March 4.
