We've heard lots of chatter about The Batman being the first chapter in a new trilogy, but nothing has been confirmed and a sequel could hinge on the critical and commercial response to this first instalment. Something tells us the movie won't struggle too much in that respect, while Warner Bros. is clearly confident in its chances of success seeing as two HBO Max spinoffs are in development.

The first will focus on the Gotham City Police Department, while the second is expected to follow Colin Farrell's Oswald Cobblepot, presumably as he continues his transformation into The Penguin.

Talking to Games Radar, Robert Pattinson admitted that he struggles to imagine a follow-up to The Batman. "When I saw it the first time, even from the first shot, it does feel incredibly different, tonally, to the other movies," he explains. "And it’s so strange, and kind of...it’s sad, and quite touching."

"It’s a really, really unusual Batman story, and it almost seems harder for me to imagine it being a series afterwards. I mean, they always have that little bit at the end, that’s like: ‘...and coming up!’ But other than that, it feels strangely personal. I think people will be shocked at how different it is."

So, we're clearly getting some sort of tease at the end of the movie. If you've been keeping an eye on the rumour mill, you'll know there's a good chance that could involve a certain Clown Prince of Crime!

Someone who is a little more positive about the future, however, is Zoe Kravitz. "To see a person like Selina really get in touch with her power and become Catwoman? That’s a journey that I’m really interested in exploring," she confirmed. "We haven’t quite seen that yet. We usually meet Catwoman, and it’s either a very quick transformation – an overnight thing – or she’s already there."

"And so to find the emotional journey that brings her to the place where she is making the choice to be this person, is what I’m really excited about," the actress concluded, teasing what sounds like a slow burn approach to telling Selina Kyle's story in this corner of the DCEU Multiverse.

The Batman is set to be released in theaters on March 4.

BZZZT! Wrong! It's not Joker. It's someone we haven't seen in a while and hopefully will be getting a proper reintroduction like Riddler.

How can anyone be spoiled after the like 9th-10th batman film?
Maybe a child watching a batman movie for the first time. But anyone else it's like being excited for old magic tricks.

@Lokiwasright - I still don’t think we’ve gotten a truly great live action Batman movie. We’ve gotten great movies with Batman in them, but not an amazing film centralizing around Bruce as a character. I’m really hoping this one changes that

@Asterisk - Some Batman fans are like annoying spoiled little brats. Imagine being so lucky, your favorite superhero receives kick-ass films such as Batman 1989 and Batman Begins, and you still don't consider them to be "great Batman movies". Meanwhile, here's us, Thor fans, to whom the best Thor movie remains a low-budget music video from Amon Amarth...

@Asterisk - Some people don't appreciate what they got.

We have 5 great Batman movies, with a 6th on the way.

@URCOMMENTSUCKS - Lol, that's fecking rubbish. Taika's Ragnarok shits all over that monstrosity.

@Whaley87 - from a production standpoint, maybe. (Though that would not mean Thor Ragnarok itself looks super impressive.) I'm sure if the band had the money, it would be higher. But from a creative and conceptual one... Yeah, I say it leaves Taika's Ragnarok in scrambles. In fact, the story which the music video portrays fits better with what everyone expected Thor 3 to be after T:TDW tease with Loki on the throne of Asgard. On one side you have Thor leading an army against Loki's forces of evil, on the other side you have Loki in his undead form (maybe he did die in the second movie, went to Helheim, made a deal with Hela, and came back as a monstrous zombie god) and leading his army of jotuns, trolls, and other scum to ring the bells of Ragnarök. Would much prefer that to... an alien bug man pooping on the floor and alien rock man observing it.

@dracula - The Dark Knight Returns voice always catches me off guard. No matter how many times I hear it I always expect him to sound deep and grizzled, yet he has one of the softest batvoices.

I’ve always wanted to see The Ventriloquist pop up somewhere. Even if it’s just a villain he beats in the first few minutes of the sequel. Always thought he would have made a good follow up solo movie to The Joker if they wanted to continue with the mental health route.

@OldMan - I always thought that Scarface and the Two-Face silver dollar could be a therapeutic tool. They could be a way of channeling a second personality.

I mean I'm hoping he goes from kinda unhinged to what we've seen in the trailers to a more cool and calculating Batman similar to the Arkham games in the future. Would be more interesting to see the Bruce Wayne playboy persona gradually develop over time.
