Warner Bros. Reportedly Looking For A "Familiar Face" To Take On The Lead Role In THE BATMAN
As Matt Reeves attempts to find a new actor to take on the role of the Dark Knight, it seems as if we can discount an unknown landing the part based on new intel about what he and the studio are after.
When are we going to get some casting news for The Batman? Well, it could be sooner than you might think! As you can see in the Tweet below, with a release date now official, Matt Reeves and Warner Bros. have started trying to find a replacement for Ben Affleck.
As of right now, we don't know if they'll replace his older Caped Crusader with a similarly aged actor or if Reeves is planning to use a much younger version of the hero, but it sounds like the filmmaker has a very specific age in mind (which may have something to do with those rumours about him having a trilogy planned).
It also sounds like an actor with some brand recognition is wanted, so that closes the door on theories that Reeves will cast an unknown as a young, inexperienced Batman and then make a star out of them.
It's hard to say who would want to inherit a role with such a hardcore fanbase and while Reeves has a great track record, they surely won't be able to ignore the critical pounding the movies Affleck starred in received. Regardless, here's hoping a surprise announcement is dropped in the next few months as pre-production begins.
