Rocksteady Rule Out THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Video Game Tie-In

Even though we haven't heard about it, Sefton Hill, the director of the Batman: Arkham Asylum/City games, has denied in an interview any involvement he or the studio has in a video game adaptation for The Dark Knight Rises. Details after the jump

Speaking to the latest issue of Official Playstation Magazine, Sefton Hill had this to say, regarding Nolan's Batman movies and whether Rocksteady are working on a tie-in.

PM: Have you ever been approached to do a tie-in game for The Dark Knight Rises? If not, would you like to do a game based on the grittier, more grounded nature of the Nolan films?

Hill: [Laughs] I love the films. I loved Begins and I loved Dark Knight. And it’s quite interesting because we saw Dark Knight in the middle of developing Asylum, so it was already a little too late to have any impact. Still, it was interesting to see where they were going, as opposed to where we were going.

One of the interesting things for us about the licence that we have is that we can make a game that’s designed to be a game, and that is a very different story to a film. If you’re writing a story for a film for two hours, it’s a very specific narrative. Whereas for a game we’re writing a story for 15 hours and then we’re also writing 12 side-stories in a way that you would just never do in a film.

OPM: So we shouldn’t expect a tie-in game from you next summer, then?

Hill: No, I don’t think so. I think that’s one thing you can rule out.

I'm not suprised as we hadn't heard any developments on a game, but at the same time disappointed. A Rocksteady adaptation of The Dark Knight Rises would've been very interesting, but I guess it'll be the same as the situation with The Dark Knight video game (Gary Oldman and some other actors recorded dialogue but the game was scrapped for unknown reasons). Still, we can look forward to a third Arkham game can't we?

Of course they won't make a game! For God sakes the movie is for grown-ups and is not pre-mature like "The Avengers."

They started to make one for The Dark Knight also, but they had to cancel it because of the license, they couldnt make it in time.

That would have been a cool game.

@bleedthefreak Yes, there was actually a movie tie-in game for Batman Begins. In my opinion, you didn't miss anything. I didn't even bother finishing it.

@TheSpiderAssassin I agree.

Actually the Batman Begins video game was rather fun, IMO. Far from perfect, but I enjoyed it. The major problem with it was there's barely any real action in it! Even the final boss was beaten in like three punches, I guess. (The Tumbler levels were damn fun, though.) And that's why I don't think it is not really a good idea to create video game adaptations from Nolan's movies...they focus more on stories, etc.; making 'em into video games (which most likely will be action-oriented) just isn't right.

@ThegambitFreak: actually, yeah, TDKR is winning because Marvel needed to put advertisement for the Avengers in their otehr movies, which TDKR never had to do. The Avengers also spend a lot of money in advertisement (Superbowl, etc.), which TDKR didn't need to do. All I can say is when TDKR starts advertising, marvel better be ready 'cause many people love batman, whereas most people never heard of the Avengers before...just sayin'.

any body else thinks this part will happen some point in the film?
i for one honestly think this will happen within the first 30 mins of the film since its taken place 8 years later after TDK...cud only make sense...i think its ture...picking up where TDK left off bat being chased by the cops...as he fell out the building to save gordons son..keep in mind he was shot by harvey to so hes hurt...but anybody think this link will happen??

@Gnyah123
i read the description and obviously thats not what happened in the prologue but there is something strange about it though. for instance, bane's dialogue in the prologue and in that description, are pretty similar and what makes me think even more that there might be some truth to it is, the description says that bane speaks in a ghastly and eerie voice. how did it know that? that description came out before anyone in the public ever got to hear bane's voice. even before the leaked audio of bane while they were shooting in the stadium.
