Rumor: Tom Hardy To Play Harvey Bullock In The Dark Knight Rises?

Yes folks, its IMDB rumor time again! The site lists Hardy as Detective Harvey Bullock, and not the villain as we all assumed..

IMDB have updated their cast list for TDKR with Tom Hardy listed as Detective Harvey Bullock(Rumored). I realize this must be taken for what it is. IMDB don't even post any news source for the info. But the thing is, once in a blue moon they actually get a few things right. IMDB had actor JJ Field listed as Montgomery Falsworth(Union Jack) in Captain America TFA before any other news site did, and that has since been confirmed. So I figured this was worth reporting on the off chance.

Remember we all just assume Hardy will be the villain. All that has been confirmed is that he will play a major role. What if he is a good guy? Hardy would certainly be a good fit for Bullock, although really, there isn't a great many roles I couldn't see the versatile actor do a good job with. In the comics Harvey Bullock is usually portrayed as a tough cop, fiercely loyal to Jim Gordon but opposed to Batman and his methods. It would definitely be an interesting dynamic to introduce as the last time we saw Batman he was a fugitive. Anyway, confirm or debunk below.

Too good to be true.

I'd love to see Harvey Bullock in the movie, although I'd prefer a schlubbier, more Dennis Franz-esque actor. Renee Montoya would be cool, too, especially after getting my hopes up with Ramirez in TDK.

As you night guess, BTAS is still the definitive Batman for me.

I think its a real possibility. Not because of this rumor, just because it makes sense to the story. Plus, Bullock is only a secondary character in the comics, he could easily be up graded in a movie as a main good guy/bad guy mix as he pursues Batman.

He'd better get in shape - and start eating donuts!

Perhaps a consciencious Bullock will be diligently hunting the fugitive Batman, and befriend him in the end.

I definitely take this with a huge grain of salt but it's a very interesting idea if true. Can't help but think that Hardy is more deserving of a bigger role though...

I wish CBM wouldn't bash on IMDb. Everyone knows that site can be edited by anyone. It's like calling out Wikipedia for containing false info. IMDb's purpose isn't to be a site for hosting rumors.

Actually your right, it snot the sites fault. I didn't mean to imply that. But their info is very unreliable at times so it has to be pointed out in an article like this lest people read too much into it.

Anyway, I just though, IF Bullock was in the movie, could that female lead Nolan is looking for me Renee Montoya?:)

this time traveler footage of a woman that looks like she's using a mobile phone from the 1928 charlie chaplin film premiere has more chance of being real than this story.

I could see them going an interesting route with Hardy as Bullock. Don't make him a villain, but make him an antagonist. He can be on a sort of Batman hunt, becoming nearly obsessed with finding the man who killed public servant Harvey Dent. Gordon tries to convince him otherwise, but Bullock won't have it. He concludes that Gordon knows things that he won't share and considers himself against him.

Just a route they could go. It would keep the 'villain' rumors true to a point, just not exactly.

It's plausible, the character would definitely fit into Nolan's Batman Universe. But c'mon, it's IMDB. I trust Wikipedia more than I trust IMDB.

@ ArrionShadow - One question, why do we need to see Robin, he's crap ;)

Gotta say tho, if they have Bullock...

Maybe someone like MADSEN's better?

Hardy needs to eat a lot of pork pies to be HARVEY lol, still if thats the character he does get to play so be it!

Still DEADSHOT hunting an on the runs BATS sounds a billion times mopre appealing.

no ror, chris or somebody else posted this same story yesterday, it WAS on the news section but its gone now. its starting to become an annoyance on this site to me. lesser known people submit articles first, then half a day later the top editors like you post the same article and throw it on the main page and delete the other persons story when their story first. it is kind of annoying but then again like chris, i don't give a rats ass lol, although it has happened to me a good amount of times.

of course ror took chris's story.. maybe he found it on his own but since he posts more chris' was taken off. Always happens on here. and as ror so arrogantly puts "who are ya" as if theres no right to ocmplain because you're what? a veteran? lol get over yourself man. This is a website. I bet you have a lot of myspace friends too lol. Let your ego go to the wayside and be realsitic. Other people dont have the time to surf the web every second for these stories, so when they do catch a story quickly, you shouldnt take their flame. whatever though that why im barely ever on here.

Ugh...what a waste that would be. Tom Hardy is way too good of an actor to be wasted on Harvey Bullock. I mean Hardy's a much better actor than Bale, yet he gets to don the cowl? That's bullshot. Let him be a villain!!!

1: posting about an IMDB rumor is about as credible as posting a main article about scratches on the bathroom wall. what i LIKE though is the debate this will genrate in the comments!

2: that being said, i am REALLY hoping he gets a main villain role! i for one am not against Penguin or the like in Nolan's re-imagining. what i'm curious about is the rumors that Hardy is getting in tip top physical shape for the role (so say other gossip sites linked from comments on the IMDB - ha! - message boards for that "untitled batman 3 project"). i'm sure all actors and actresses try and get fit for any role (unless you;re Brian Denehy or something) but i was hoping there would be a purpose or clue in that training

I know most people disagree but I'd really like to see Robin in this movie somehow. I'm sure Nolan could find a way to update the character and make it cool.

Yo, Blank in the head, what I meant when i said "who are ya?" was just that. I thought he was from another website that reported the story. I had no idea anyone posted this before me, probably because it was deleted. I have no idea why that was either. Anyway, your always a delight and a pleasure to converse with, please come around more often!!

Norrin, like I said, they have been right in the past. When we covered their Union Jack rumor everyone said the same thing you are now, so yeah.
