The ever reliable Deadline, who broke the news that Tom Hardy has joined the cast of The Dark Knight Rises, now have another exclusive report with the following bit of very juicy information which might just confirm a few of the numerous rumours that have been circulating online these past few months!

"Chris Nolan is lining up actresses he'll meet for two female lead roles in The Dark Knight Rises, the third installment of the Batfranchise which Warner Bros has dated release on July 20, 2012. I'm told one of the roles is a love interest for Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne, and the other is a villain. The actresses are: Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley."

It looks like all those Catwoman and Talia Al Ghul rumours might just end up leading somewhere if Nolan is indeed looking for a female villain! There are of course plenty of love interests for Bruce Wayne that they could pick from the comic books, but which characters do you think that any of the above actresses would be well suited for? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released on July 20, 2012!

UPDATE: 11/12/2010 - Moviehole has added three more names to the hareem...

I’ve also heard a couple of more names being tossed about in relation to the film... One is Tanit Phoenix, who worked with the studio on “Lost Boys 3 : The Tribe”. Another is Marion Cotillard, who has long been a fan-fave to take on the role of Catwoman. And last but not least, there’s been whispers of Piper Perabo, who Nolan worked with on “The Prestige”, being considered for a role.
