Batman defeated by Hong Kong Harbor

News out of the Batman the Dark Knight camp is making my life hard. There are simply too many jokes to make it isn’t worthwhile making even one. All of the other news publications will be going crazy, but I just can’t fall in to that trap. Hopefully, after you take the jump, you’ll understand why.

After just reporting yesterday that there would be a massive stunt in Hong Kong involving a helicopter and a C130, we’ve just found out that they’ve had to cancel a second (I think) shot.

The shot was to take place over the Hong Kong harbor, shooting Batman dropping out of a plane in to the water, and then climbing up some bamboo or some other apparatus.

Why have they axed such a theoretically awesome shot?

Because the water that he was going to be jumping in didn’t pass water tests the producers conducted. Apparently, the water quality posed a considerable health risk, with salmonella and Mycobacterium tuberculosis being found.

The entire Asian continent is contaminated by pollution, with China and Indonesia being listed in the top four polluters in the world. Hong Kong’s harbor has apparently been polluted by industrial and residential waste for a long time, and is definitely not recommended as a swimming destination.

The scene has been swapped to happen inside of a building, however, how he’s getting in to the building is unclear. Are any of us ready for Batman to drop out of a plane in to a building? If he can’t withstand a swim, can he … no, I’m not even going to finish that joke! I’m sorry, so sorry!
