After bursting onto the scene in Game of Thrones season 6 as Lyanna Mormont, Bella Ramsey has gone on to turn heads in HBO's adaptation of the Naughty Dog video game, The Last of Us.
However, speaking to LADBible recently, Ramsey revealed that they are currently desiring to sink their teeth into a villainous role. And in particular, something that might have a comic book flair.
"I've not really played a villain yet. So I want to play a baddy. But like a really interesting, intricate, complex baddy," they told the site.
When the interviewer suggested someone like the Joker, Ramsey stated that's actually who they had in mind. "Yeah. I was actually thinking that as well. The Joker, someone really interesting like that."
They also went on to namedrop Hannibal Lecter as a character type that fits what they're currently looking to portray.
For their role as Ellie in The Last of Us, Ramsey became the first non-binary actor to be nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards.
If Ramsey continues to select projects within the Warner Bros./HBO bubble, a turn as a DC Comics villain could certainly be something that occurs in the near future.
Comic book fans will recall that Martha Wayne actually became the joker during the events of The Flashpoint storyline from DC Comics, back in 2011.
Bruce Wayne is killed by Joe Chill in that parallel timeline as opposed to Martha and Thomas Wayne. As a result, Martha experienced severe trauma from this incident and she went insane. Meanwhile, Thomas finds Chill and brutally beats him to death a few months after Bruce's death.
But he informed a dejected Martha that he missed her smile right before going out to carry out this violent deed. Martha turned to her husband and revealed that she had torn her cheeks open to create a fake smile, telling him that she finally had a reason to smile. It appears that this comment roused Martha from her grief-stricken stupor. Thomas then returned to tell her that he had killed Chill. After that, Thomas had her placed in an Arkham facility.
However, she would go on to break out and become Gotham's Clown Prince of Crime, taking on a Harley Quinn-inspired sidekick named Yo-Yo, while Thomas Wayne would become Batman and take on Catwoman as his ward.
