THE BATMAN Star Colin Farrell Says He's Going To "Text Matt Reeves" About Jessie Buckley Playing Poison Ivy

Colin Farrell has expressed his excitement at the prospect of Jessie Buckley (The Lost Daughter) playing Poison Ivy in a sequel to The Batman, and said he'd be texting Matt Reeves about it.

Following Ben Affleck's interpretation of the character in the "Snyderverse," Matt Reeves decided to take a more realistic approach to his vision for The Dark Knight's world in The Batman. This will make The Caped Crusader's more outlandish villains tough to adapt for future movies, but the director does seem to be open to giving it a go.

Reeves recently said he'd be interested in introducing a more grounded version of Mr. Freeze, but what about Poison Ivy?

Fans have wanted to see a new big-screen incarnation of Batman's botanical baddie for years, and while this "Batverse" wouldn't seem like the best place to debut Pamela Isley, Reeves might well be up for the challenge.

Colin Farrell (The Penguin) was asked about the possibility of fellow Irish actor Jessie Buckley (The Lost Daughter) boarding a sequel as Poison Ivy during an interview with Joe.ie, and loved the idea so much that he said he was going to text his director about it!

We doubt he actually sent that message, of course, but it's certainly an interesting casting suggestion. Buckley has been getting rave reviews for her performances in the likes of Wild Rose, Beast and the upcoming Men, and is widely praised as a major up-and-coming talent.

Would you like to see Ivy face-off against Robert Pattinson's Batman? If so, how would you go about making the character more grounded? Drop us a comment down below.

After I'm thinking of ending things and Fargo season 4 I've become a big fan of Buckley. I'm actually really down with this casting.

I would love that. Think we are going to get A LOT of rogues down the line, and I’m excited about that.

Not bad. I'd rather have Ana de Armas, but she was good on Fargo.

I see Harvey Dent and Dick Grayson getting introduced in the second, and give Penguin his crazy umbrellas lol

Buckley is a great actress and would be a good pick. A Poison Ivy in Reeves version of Gotham would be very different though, she wouldn't be a MetaHuman, wouldn't have green skin or the ability to control plants, she'd probably be an echo terrorist, perhaps with followers like a female Charles Manson, kinda like Rose the hat without the powers.

@ARMUS - I think of a cult of mother nature led by Poison Ivy. A pagan cult in Gotham City. A modern coven. Through natural narcotics they incapacitate their victims and become offerings.

Ivy really deserves to be in this new trilogy. So does a lot of characters - I know but I still think she would be the right choice. As for the actress in this article I don't really know her.
As for casting my pick would be either Blake Lively or Ana de Armas.

Ivy could easily be a adapted into a more realistic setting although I would prefer if she had at least some supernatural abilities. With the exception of the corny dialogue, B&R's Ivy was actually very similar to the BTAS version of the character. They could go a similar route this time around. No need for the green skin imo.
