During a recent interview with SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show (via THR), The Batman star Jeffrey Wright shed a little more light on what fans can expect from Matt Reeves' movie next October.

The Westworld star plays James Gordon, though we don't know what rank in the police force he'll have when we meet him during the second year of the Caped Crusader's career. Understandably, the actor chose his words carefully, but did drop a few intriguing new hints.

"My take is - the way I explain what we're doing is, like with any film, we're working together to create a mood, to create an idea, a setting, a tone," Wright explained. "This is the next evolution since 1939 when these stories began. This is the next evolution of Gotham."

"So I am working off the stage Matt [Reeves] is providing and also working off what Robert [Pattinson] is doing. We are trying to create something together that is our own, but is also Batman."

Providing an example, Wright mentioned the Batmobile. "I read the script for the Batmobile and I was like, 'Yeah, that's it,'" he said. "(Bruce Wayne) created the most badass muscle car you could imagine, but it's grounded in Gotham. It's grounded in Americana."

It certainly sounds like a cool take on the Dark Knight's world, but one we're going to have to wait a little longer than expected to see after COVID-19 pushed The Batman from June 2021 to October 2021.

Can't wait for Reeves Batman to happen!

Very much love this cast, it feels like how it must have felt when Nolans Batman was first staring, like "oh, theres quite a few prestigious actors in this, its weird"

Sounds nice. Always good to see people involved in a project being really into it.

Obviously nobody on a new movie is gonna say it sucks or they anticipate problems, but everything about this movie, including the cast, seems to mesh very well together. It all just fell into place perfectly.

Actors three favorite words when describing a new take is tone, setting, and mood lol

I think Wright could be the BEST live action Gordon we’ve ever had.
Hope it’s like Scott Snyder’s take
