Why not reboot Batman via TV Series and Film Franchise?

The TV Series covers the young Batman, while the movie series depicts the Caped Crusader in his 50's.

Batman has never been more popular. TDKR for sure will leave us wanting more from Nolan especially since we never got to see the likes of The Penguin or The Riddler. So where do we go from here? When should Batman be rebooted? More importantly, how should it be rebooted?

I say start a big budget, all star cast TV Series on WB. Cast both TV stars and film stars (Hugh Laurie, Kate Mara, Dylan McDermott, Kelsey Grammer, even Kevin Costner) and use both Batman comic book writers and Hollywood writers to create epic scripts. Villains can come and go from week to week. You can watch Batman’s relationships with Tailia and Catwoman grow. You can see how much Ra’s mind games and the memories of Bruce’s parents murders really effect him.

Gordon’s story arc can have the focus it deserves. Watch him battle corrupt cops and Commissioner Loeb. See how his relationship with Batman makes things for him on the force worse. See how all of this affects his daughter Barbara.

This could be a great NYPD Blue-like run and just as it piques in popularity, Warner Brothers reboots the movie franchise. The two will be nothing alike because the movie franchise could pin Batman into his 50’s. Heck, James Bond has always been in his 40’s and older and he had no problem kicking it. At this point, Batman would have been fighting crime and the super villains for almost 20 years and needs to pass on the cape. We can see him train Robin if Robin has already been by his side, see Robin turn to Nightwing and see Batman train Jason Todd.
I do have a fansite with a TV Cast and a fansite focusing on the first movie of a reboot 6 film franchise, although the film has Bruce becoming Batman around 25. Sure, I am sure people are sick of another origins arc but in this franchise Bruce will flash back in each film to see how the current super villain already had an effect on him as a boy. Some before his parents being killed and some just after. But as for the older Batman franchise, I see a huge opportunity to incorporate a lot of great recent comics.

We all know the franchise will be rebooted soon with the Justice League movie looming, but seeing both a TV series and another film franchise can’t be too much, can it?

A lot of great ideas in there. I like the duel approach to telling his story respectably. I know I'm in the exception but I wanna eventually see the main 4 robins and 3 bargirls in the movies. It shows his ability to lead and his knack to manipulate even those he loves. A great part of his persona and character is missing from all current movie depiction. I like the tortured from parents approach but I want him to question his ability to realize his dreams and the protocols he puts in motion to live forever symbolically.

I actually think this is a great idea! Although, I think it would need to be on the WB, not HBO. As I said on the "Arrow" thread yesterday, I think TV may be the best route for DC to take if they want to make a respectable JLA movie. Smallville, Green Arrow and your Batman idea would be perfect. They can introduce a TON of characters through the shows and then develop it into a film, like Star Trek. I really do think it would work. Get on it DC!!

I like your idea. but I say no more bat-films until after the Justice League. I love the idea of the TV show Year One. Batman wouldn't cost too much effects wise.

I think we shouldn't address whether the universes are the same (much like the DCAU). and then after Justice League, assume everyone knows the origin, and produce individual stories much like James Bond. Hell, do entire grand sweeping arcs. However, keep producing Justice League movies, etc. Have the others cross over if need be. Keep the same actors for continuity and you're golden.

The tv show should be in the same universe as the DC movies so he can be apart of the JLA movie
