First announced officially at Comic Con, Batman vs Superman has garnered a lot of reaction from fan and spawned rumors galore. Two points that keep circulating is that people involved keep saying "Snyder's interpretation of Batman" and the call for a female lead that seems to match a Wonder Woman description. After thinking about this and looking closely on what we have been told I have developed my theories for both. Please remember these are theories, not facts, and I'm not saying I am for or against them, just a couple possibilities.
Let's start with The Wonder Woman speculation; Is it going to be Wonder Woman cast in the female lead that we've heard of? In my theory no. Let's remember back in Man of Steel and the ship Clark explored in the film. There was one opened pod that was empty, he heard footsteps, Jor-El's hologram explained to him that teams were sent to various planets in these ships. The casting call was for a woman to be a Bruce Wayne love interest who is "tall" and "Possessing physicality" and while these descriptions do match Wonder Woman, I don't see WB putting her in this film, at least not as a lead. My theory based on the description and the scene from MoS is that the female lead they are casting for will be Kara Zor-EL also known as Supergirl. It would add more dynamic to the VS aspect if Kal El was able to find his cousin also was a survivor who began a relationship with Bruce Wayne (Batman).
The second theory is on the "Snyder's take on Batman" statements. At SDCC when the film was announced it was stated that The Dark Knight Returns was an inspiration for the story. As I'm sure we all know in TDKR Superman works for the government while Batman acts outside the government's wishes essentially which is what leads to the climatic fight. In the end of MoS we get the feeling that Superman isn't going to play along with what the government wants. If he is in essence taking the approach that Bruce took in TDKR, my theory is that Snyder's version of Batman has him working WITH the government. Not as an agent, but more how he works with Gordon in the comics. They contact him via Batsignal and he takes care of the problem in his own way. Could this be the main plot point that causes the showdown between Bats and Supes? The government not liking Superman's approach or even seeing him as a potential threat so they send the world's greatest detective in to find out a way to stop him?
Again these are just theories and may be way off, but I felt like sharing them with my CBM friends here for us to discuss and see how any of you felt about them. Sound off below with your thoughts.
