BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Costumer Reveals That Robin's Outfit Was A Repurposed Batsuit

One of the costumers who worked on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has revealed that the Robin suit spotted in the Batcave during the 2016 film was actually a repurposed Batsuit that was stripped down!

There was something familiar about Robin's defaced costume in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and a key speciality costumer who worked on the film, Douglas J. Stewart, has now revealed why. The burned up outfit was actually a repurposed Batsuit the team created to give fans some idea of what the Boy Wonder would have looked like in the DC Extended Universe.

"Robin, started with the cannibalized stunt bat suit," he says of the design in the Instagram post below. "Snipped, nipped, trimmed and tucked. A Robin suit was in there. Wrapped on a special fiberglass form to enhance his anatomy."

The costume seen in the 2016 film didn't feature the familiar green and yellow colour scheme, but that's because The Joker is believed to have set Dick Grayson on fire during his attack.

Aside from that, it looked like a classic Robin costume in terms of the overall design, though it's definitely a surprise to learn that it was essentially repurposed from an old Batsuit the crew had been using. It's unclear whether there are plans to reveal what happened to the young hero in Zack Snyder's Justice League, but the Clown Prince of Crime has been confirmed to appear.

Someone said they thought this the other day. Good eye.

It's still a dumb design that was destined to get the boy wonder maimed if not killed to start with.

@theFUZZ008 - that’s a clear sign of stress. Imagine your boss taking you out every night looking for the worst of the worst and all you have is a neon bright suit and a masquerade mask for head safety.

I’m not a Zack hater, and I’m looking forward to his JL. That said, the big problem w/ BvS was there was no MOS 2 before supes gets killed. And I get that part of the BvS beef is that is picks up right after MOS, in fact I think that makes it super cool, love how it meshes them together.

But killing Clark so quickly, killing Jimmie, killing Dick.. it’s just moving a little too quickly..

Even as a Zack Snyder fan, I think that Robin's costume should have more color. Robin, in my opinion is the opposite of Batman, but not quite Superman in terms of personality. A happy medium if you will. Adding Robin gave Batman a lighter, softer tone. Made him less a "creature of the night."

I remember Batman and Superman's chat in The New Frontier. Superman asks about Robin, to which Batman explains that he doesn't want people to be afraid of him; that he's the good guy, or something close to that. And I think Robin should represent the "lighter; softer side" of Batman. Just my opinion
