BOX OFFICE: ZOOTOPIA Surpasses BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Domestically; Disney Breaks Studio Record

Zootopia has retaken its second place spot, just after Deadpool's whopping $362 million, at the 2016 box office (and rightfully so) after beating Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice this past weekend. The universally-acclaimed Disney animated film is now at $327.6 million (and still has very strong legs), which beats the critically-panned "historic event" (now at a very disappointing $327.2 million). I guess quality matters.

Thanks in part to Captain America: Civil War's massive opening weekend, Disney has broken a studio record. It is now the fastest studio to reach $1 billion domestically in only 128 days, beating last year's Universal record by 37 days.

Worldwide, Zootopia is now at a massive $956 million and is expected to reach $1 billion by June. 2016 looks like a great year for Disney. ZootopiaThe Jungle Book, and Captain America: Civil War are all on lock to reach $1 billion.

Disney plan was to put Captain America on first place after Jungle Book would earned enough money. There was also Zootopia. Half of 2016 an Disney already smashed the competition.

@jerryblake - And there's still Alice 2, Dr Strange and Finding Dory. Oh, and this little thing called Star Wars.
