Hans Zimmer Reveals Why He's "Grappling" With BATMAN/SUPERMAN Decision

"I don't want to go and take what I did with Chris and just plonk it into another movie," says composer Hans Zimmer when asked again about whether he's interested in returning for Batman/Superman.

"Honestly, I'm just sort of grappling with that right now," Hans Zimmer told Vulture when asked how he would feel about returning to score Batman/Superman for Zack Snyder. "Quite seriously, the thought right now is that no, I don't want to go and take what I did with Chris and just plonk it into another movie. There isn't one good reason to do it, and there are so many good reasons not to do it." It's understandable that Zimmer wouldn't want to try to top his work on The Dark Knight Trilogy and easy to appreciate that he wouldn't want to just repeat it either. For that reason, his mixed feelings about returning for this movie might just be for the best, as he confirms that he hasn't been asked as of yet! "Zack hasn't talked to me about it, so I don't have to worry about it! I'll worry about it when I have to worry about it, and then, if I'm lucky, I'll have an idea. If I have an idea, I can do something with that, but if I don't have an idea, then my good idea is going to be, 'Get somebody else.'" And while he does express a desire to reunite with Zack Snyder, Zimmer adds, "I wouldn't want to put the ideas I used in the Chris Nolan Batman movies into a Superman movie. It just wouldn't feel right."

Why not have two composers? One for the new Batman theme and keep Hans for Superman. It could work

@ALengendaryPanda I totally agree with that, bring in Michael Giacchino. Both Doing Great right now and i feel they would mesh well together. He did just do Star Treks Score so there's that to consider.

He's nervous because Man of Steel was terrible and he doesn't want to be associated with garbage.

The nerve of some people!

He could just compose the Superman parts and someone else the Batman parts.

Michael Giacchino has done a superb work with the recent Star Trek movies, plus Speed Racer and LOST.

He could even bring homage to John Williams and Danny Elfman´s themes and it would work!

@TheRightTouch

Doubts don't mean dick here at CBM my friend. Only proof that Hans won't take millions to be associated with MOS.

Hindsight is always 20/20.

Stay thirsty my friends.

I loved Zimmer's score for "Man of Steel" and am looking forward to his NEW theme for the Caped Crusader, one that's appropriate for this film's incarnation.

GRAIN OF SALT!!

Remember what he said about staying away from a Superman score b/c it would mean having to top Williams? He did it anyway.

I have a feeling, we'll be getting another meh Zimmer score. I have been listening to the 20 (or so) minute Man of Steel suite over the last few days. It's fine. It is not spectacular. His work in Pirates of the Caribbean and Lion King are his best stuff.

I agree with Zimmer, though I'd LOVE him to come back and compose more of his new Man of Steel theme... That being said, I'd love Danny Elfman to come back and compose either a new Bat-theme or bring back the old.

As much i like Hans Zimmer i really think they should fine some new blood to compose this film and let Zimmer move on.

They're not going to use two composers for the same movie -- that's a waste of money. They are either going to contract Zimmer, or find another composer who might choose to adapt Zimmer's work on MOE.

I like Panda's idea. I know it would be expensive, but they have to think about the future. When Batman and Superman appear in separate films, we will still want their themes to remain the same. If you have one guy doing both franchises, he'll be pretty stressed. Keep Zimmer for Superman and find a new guy for Batman.

No thank you. Get a new composer, so we can get a decent Superman theme along with a new Batman theme. Sick of Zimmer's two note riffs in nearly every film.

@ PingaDing

Honestly all these trolls can crack jokes about DC/WB but at least Hans has worked with WB on many occasions for their movies. Yet I have to swallow that crap 70's disco music at the end of RegularMan 3!!!!!!!
