The Rock On What Drew Him To The Role Of BLACK ADAM

While The Rock recently had some holiday drinks with Superman (Henry Cavill), news on his Black Adam has been scarce. However, check out what he had to say on why he thinks the character is so intriguing.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has always been a bit of a showman. From his days in the WWE to his recent box office success, it's hard not to see The Rock in there somewhere. To reach more of his fans, Johnson has started doing mini Q&A sessions on his YouTube page. Mainly the videos consist of him chatting about what his life would be like had he not found success, making some jokes, or talking about his work out regime.

However, in his latest video he answered the question, "So what made you want to consider the role of Black Adam?" Johnson had this to say:

"Look I love the role of Black Adam. That he starts off as a slave. That he feels like he was wronged. I just love that back story. And I just think, for me, Black Adam has been the most intriguing super hero"

Not really anything new, though it is nice to hear something about a character that has been cast, but that we haven't gotten too much information about.

As of right now, Shazam is aiming for a release date in 2019. However, with The Rock kicking back drinks with Henry Cavill over the holidays, many have speculated that we may see Black Adam sooner than that.

Black Adam isn't a superhero, though. At best, he's an anti-villain. This, along with the casting of Dwayne Johnson, makes me worried that they will be making Black Adam a lighter and more heroic character than usual.

I think news for the DCEU's Black Adam, Flash, Cyborg, Green Lantern, Blue Beetle & Booster Gold will start flowing when and if WW becomes a success.

"And I just think, for me, Black Adam has been the most intriguing super hero" but he's a villain.

I dislike how Dwayne likes the New 52 origin of Black Adam over the Pre New 52. I just think there is more story potential if they went in that direction instead.

Let's hope they bring that sort of depth into the film.

Tho I don't think this movie is going to happen at all. I love the thought of Rock as the Black Marvel tearing someone in half on screen.

I really like the back story to Black Adam. I really hope they get into how this effects him being more of an anti-hero than a super hero.

I'm still not ruling out that he shows up in Justice League. It's odd to me that they announced him so soon if he isn't gonna pop up somewhere. Black Adam is the perfect equalizer to Superman.

Black Adam is a VILLAIN, not a hero. At the least, he's an anti-hero. Johnson saying this worries me. He's a vile adversary to SHAZAM and he shouldn't be a hero. Hope they aren't sending him that route. Knowing Johnson, he's GOT TO BE THE HERO in some capacity.

@ComicsBornAndBred - i think they will give him the will smith's deadshot treatment, the guy is still a villain but with a heart of gold(it makes no bloddy sense when you really think about it)

@auditore - Well, he was a hero for a time and then made bad choices from a place of pain and ran afoul of Shazam.
