Fandango Reveals The Most Anticipated 2022 Movies Among Ticket Buyers...And There Are A LOT OF Superheroes

Fandango has revealed its list of most anticipated 2022 movies based on votes from paying ticket buyers, and while superheroes dominate, there are a couple of noteworthy omissions. Find more details here!

With 2022 right around the corner, Fandango has revealed its list of most anticipated movies for next year. Polling more than 6000 ticket buying moviegoers, the top 10 makes for interesting reading and is topped by Marvel Studios' Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Unsurprisingly, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is next, while The Batman and Thor: Love and Thunder follow. Then, there's Jurassic World: Dominion (which marks Colin Trevorrow's return to the franchise), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Avatar 2, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Top Gun: Maverick and Mission: Impossible 7

Arguably more interesting than what is listed here is what didn't make the cut. Despite being headlined by Dwayne Johnson, Black Adam is M.I.A., as is Sony's Marvel Comics movie Morbius starring Jared Leto.

"Audiences are looking for unforgettable experiences at the theater and 2022 promises to deliver a bounty of exciting new movies that you must see on the big screen," says Fandango managing editor Erik Davis. "From some of the biggest returning characters like Spider-Man, Batman, Catwoman and Doctor Strange, to memorable franchises like Black Panther, Top Gun, Mission: Impossible and Jurassic World, the new year is packed with thrills, chills and adventure around every corner."

Assuming another COVID surge doesn't put a spoke in the wheel, 2022 is going to be an incredibly busy year for movies, and it's no great surprise that superheroes are dominating this top 10 list.

What are you most excited to watch next year?

I'm suprised with controversy and delays surrounding BP that it is number one. I mean I for sure will be seeing it but I am even worried about hoe they are going to handle it.

@Manmarvel - Maybe because no one knows nor cares about what goes on behind the scenes?

The only delay that was specifically on the BP2 production was Letitia’s injury. The others were because of the whole slate being pushed back because of the pandemic.

Batman and MoM too low.

Black Panther 2 way too damn high.

@Doomsday8888 - Why? The first film received a very positive response of moviegoers. It’s only natural that they would be more excited for the sequel.

Just because you probably didn’t like the first doesn’t mean everyone didn’t.

@Doomsday8888 - Eh Batman would not have even been in my top 5, its just hard to get excited yet for another Batman movie. I bet it will be great but just not excited at all but I know I am in the minority.

My List:
1. Spiderverse Part 2
2. MoM
3. Black Adam
4. Thor 4
5. Mission Impossible

@aunit1390 - It’s not just you.
I’m a huge Batman fan but I’m not too excited to seeing another “grounded” take.
I wanted more of the big JL, beating the crap out of Parademons Superhero type adventure.

Four of the movies on that list I just don't care to see or will wait until streaming. The rest I have varying degrees of hype for but I will see them in movie theaters. (Unless Mean Miss Rona says otherwise, that is.)

My Top 3 would be:

Spider-Verse 2
The Batman
Multiverse of Madness

Of course I'm looking forward to all MCU movies as well. No interest in Jurassic World, Avatar, and Top Gun. Slightly hyped for Aquaman and MI7.
