BOX OFFICE: BLACK PANTHER Breaks THE AVENGERS' Wednesday Record And Passes $500 Million Worldwide
Black Panther broke another box office record belonging to The Avengers yesterday and will pass the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office (already!) today. Hit the jump to the latest details...
Black Panther is proving itself to be a force to be reckoned with at the box office because the movie earned an impressive $14.5 million at the North American box office on Wednesday, the highest gross on that day for a Marvel Studios movie ever. It tops The Avengers' $13.6 million record and has now grossed $277.5 million domestically since being released last Friday before President's Day weekend.
Because of these numbers, Black Panther will cross the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office today and it appears as if the sky is the limit for Marvel's latest movie. It's too soon to say how high it will ultimately go but $1 billion doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility, especially as it should earn another $100 million this weekend and hasn't opened in countries like China or Japan as of yet.
Internationally, Black Panther made $14.5 million for a total of $213.6 million overseas. So far, it's made most of its money in the UK with a whopping $30.4 million. How many times have you watched the Ryan Coogler helmed release? Do you intend on checking it out again this weekend?
