After breaking out in a hugely successful manner in Captain America:Civil War, T'Challa seems to be on top of the comics world. The debut issue of his new series was the number one seller in April and "#blackpanthersolit" recently trended on Twitter. In the past week, major stars Lupita Nyong'o and Michael B. Jordan joined director Ryan Coogler's 2018 solo film. Now, Marvel mastermind Kevin Feige has made some interesting comments relating to the cast.
Upon being told that Black Panther, with its African lead, is a "huge step for Marvel", perhaps even more so after facing cries of white-washing in Dr. Strange, Feige replied:
"It's a step that Marvel took many years ago in the comics as well, and it felt like it's more than due time to do that in the movie."
And then further elaborated on the film's cast:
"That will be among the best ensembles we've ever had, and 90 percent of the cast is either African or African-American."
This is certainly encouraging to hear, and with the talent already attached to the film, it certainly seems true. Here's hoping that other "10%" includes Everrot Ross and Hunter, the White Wolf!
