Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Reveals Which Movie He Believes Is The Best They've Made

Marvel Studios has released a lot of different movies since Iron Man hit theaters in 2008 but which of them does Kevin Feige believe was a true game changer and the best they've ever made? Find out here...

Marvel Studios has such an incredible track record, it's hard not to declare every new release the best ever. However, as epic as Avengers: Infinity War was and as fun as Ant-Man and The Wasp will no doubt be, it's hard to escape the feeling that Black Panther will stand out as the year's best superhero movie not only from Marvel but every other studio too. In fact, it may be one of the greatest ever.

That's a sentiment shared by Kevin Feige because he's credited the movie and director Ryan Coogler for making Marvel a better studio. "The experience of making ‘Black Panther,’ even before it came out, was a transformative one," he explained during a recent Q&A. "We’re watching the final playback, where you see the final film and check for any last-minute changes, and when it ended I just instinctually leaned over to Ryan and said, ‘I think this is the best movie we’ve ever made.'"

"We had to make that movie to destroy a myth that Black movies don’t succeed around the world," he added. "Unconscious bias is a real thing." Explaining that working on Black Panther also made him more aware of the need for a greater level of diversity behind the camera, Feige reflected on a production meeting where he noticed that everyone "didn’t look like me, and that was exciting."

What did you think of Black Panther? Is it one of the best Marvel movies ever or a tad overrated?

I enjoyed Black Panther to a certain point but I don't see what is so extraordinary special about it. The action was mediocre at best and the story was nothing that made it more special than any of the other Marvel movies if you blend out the fact that it revolved around the black cast.

If you would rate the movies considering the time they were made I'd say the best ones in no particular order are:

Avengers
Guardians of the Galaxy
Infinity War
Winter Soldier

I guess my favorite one in terms of pure filmmaking would be Infinity War.

@Kur5e - How in the world can you not see what's so special about it, given the INCREDIBLE response to it? Obviously, it's special. Things aren't special, simply because you think they are.

@Luminus - He said that HE didn't see it. Obviously most people did see it. I also thought it was mediocre, and that Feige saying this is just good PR.

@IronDean2099 - Good PR for what? The movie made over billion dollars. You're letting your own feelings color your suspicions. You have absolutely no reason whatsoever to suspect he's just doing it for PR. Does he have a history of doing this? Cite an example.

@Kur5e - I agree. I liked BP and thought it had great moments (I love the ancastral plane and the score centered around that) but in terms of filmmaking, the story, the action and direction its all pretty standard.
I’d add GotG 2 to my list. I think that’s a beautifully made movie, though many here dismiss it for the (sometimes overboard, yeah) silly humor.

@TheBigLebowski - About GOTGV2, I utterly agree. From beginning to end it is masterful. Such a joy to behold, that movie is.

@Luminus - He's a producer. Of course he's going to give good PR. It's his job. That's not to take away from anything the movie accomplished, it's just plain how it is. Of course he's going to say that their most culturally relevant movie is his favourite. We'll be hearing the same tune when Captain Marvel rolls around. It's not a bad thing, it's good business to capitalise on these developments.

While we're on the subject, Black Panther had great actors putting in great performances, but the script was weak. Great social commentary but the story and dialogue were subpar and the third act severely underwhelmed as far as action and special effects go. Also, T'Challa was the least interesting character in his own movie. Shuri and Killmonger saved it.

@IronDean2099 - Everything you've said is just your opinion. Again, cite an example of him making comments like this SOLELY as a PR move. Really, what are you going to say if Captain Marvel comes out and isn't a cultural phenomenon and Feige doesn't praise it as their best? I should probably bookmark this and wait for the results. He could've said Infinity War was the best. After all, look at the response to it.
Who would've doubted him? And yet he doesn't.

@Luminus - Of course it's my opinion, it's my comment. I never claimed anything otherwise. I'm making my personal observations based on the comments made here by Feige, and my perception of the movie. Which I enjoyed, by the way. It might very well be his favourite right now, but I personally find that hard to believe when there are other MCU movies that I believe to be vastly superior to Black Panther.

If you don't like the opinions of others, I would say that internet comments sections are a bad place to be.
