Noel Clarke Says Marvel Isn't Interested In Him For BLACK PANTHER

A number of actors have come out and campaigned for the roll of T'Challa/Black Panther, but according to Noel Clarke, don't expect to see him in the role any time soon.

After news broke a while back that a Black Panther movie was being developed at Marvel, actor after actor threw his name in for the title character. From Anthony Mackie, who will be portraying Falcon in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, to Leverage actor Aldis Hodge, many have let it be known that they would love a crack at T'Challa. Another actor who threw his name in the mix was Noel Clarke, but according to Clarke Marvel just flat-out doesn't want him. "They’re not interested, man. I’ve tried everything. I’ve offered to write the film, they’re not interested. Obviously I’d love to play the part, they’re not interested, he told DenOfGeek. Also back in 2009 Clarke tweeted that he would be interested in doing a Black Lightening or Supergirl movie for DC. However, DC apparently shot him down as well.

There has been no word on just exactly what Marvel is planning on doing with Black Panther. With the announcement that they were developing a movie most thought that it would occupy the release date that eventually went to Guardians of The Galaxy. We do know that Marvel is really trying to do a Black Panther movie. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the first movie of phase 3.

I can see why Marvel are not intrested. Noel Clarke does not have the look for T'Challa! Marvel should cast Michael Jai White as Black Panther.

PROT3CTOR

Exactly. Of all the candidates mentioned, Hodge is the most logical choice IMO. Right age, background in martial arts and currently doing parkour, a pretty good actor that can handle his own and can pull of a convincing African accent. Plus he's a fan of the character also.

And wasn't it reported that Marvel has Hodge on their radar for this role anyhow?

Did he seriously say he would be interested in a Supergirl movie for DC? I'm not sure he looks the part.

@prot3ctor

I like the movies for phase 3, but don't the release dates seem a lot farther out than they should be?

I mean we got Cap and Thor in 2011 and their sequels in 2013, but we don't get the 3rd films for 4 and 5 years?

Release dates just seem oddly stretched

Aww Mickey Smith needs more roles, or maybe I'm just Doctor Who biased but that show has EXCELLENT actors. Ps this article need a cool pic of him like this one.

I still pick Chiwetel Ejiofor over Aldis Hodge. A better actor imo also I've seen Hodge do an African accent and it wasn't as good as Ejiofor.

This is a good thing!! He cant act at all and he uses his money to get his british films made... No talent no nothing!!! Hopefully everyone realises this and keeps him out of the movie industry

Chiwatel Ejiofor is a no brainer. The guy is a nigerian/american. he doesn't need to try to come up with an african accent. He hears it everytime he talks to his family. Plus.. he is a GOOD actor. Then you have the fact that Joss already worked with him before. and we all know how he likes to recycle his actors

@CrispySeaplanes

hes only wanted to write and direct a Supergirl movie

@Emjeed

Chiwetel Ejiofor is not American he is British/Nigerian

I agree with Batz11 That guy just looks like T'challa, and he is a great actor, very good at 'stoic' which is T'challa in a nutshell

Hounsu is best if going for an older Black Panther around Tony's age who can hold his own against Stark. Hodge is the best choice if you are going younger and looking for an impetous young African leader. Maybe somoene who can be mentored by Captain America. Black Panther makes a lot of sense for Avenger 3, so I would expect something after Phase 2.

I would start off with T'Chaka's back story (played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje or Peter Mensah)... Than fast forward to T'Challa's assuming the mantle to a more mature T'Challa (played by Tyrese Gibson or Taye Diggs).

Djimon Honsou (given his age at pushing 50) is more suited for T'Chaka IMO. By the time Phase 3 hits, Honsou will be almost a senior citizen at that time and Hodge will be in his early 30s.

Noel Clarke is a Z list actor. The black Danny Dyer. And by that I mean shit.
