BLACK PANTHER Is Officially 2018's Best Reviewed Movie According To Rotten Tomatoes

While we wait for this year's Oscar nominations to see if Black Panther has made the cut, there's more good news for the Marvel Studios movie today as it's officially the best-reviewed movie of 2018...

It's too early to say whether or not Black Panther will receive a "Best Picture" nomination at this year's Oscars but after the movie missed out at the Golden Globes, the buzz has somewhat died down (industry insiders believe that Ryan Coogler could land a surprise "Best Director" nomination).

It really should be nominated because not only did moviegoers love this standalone adventure starring Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa, but it's now been confirmed that it was the best-reviewed release of 2018.

The winners of the Golden Tomatoes Awards have been revealed and in the category of "Best Reviewed Wide Release," Black Panther has emerged triumphant. Following that was Mission: Impossible: Fallout, BlacKkKlansman, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Black Panther could easily end up being a surprise winner at the Oscars but even being nominated would be one hell of a victory for Marvel Studios and helps to further legitimise the genre. An argument could be made that it doesn't need that, especially as whatever obscure Indie flick ends up winning the big one can't compare in terms of reviews or box office takings!

People might even start watching these awards if they let go of the past and embrace the future.

@LaserKing - The main reason I watch award shows is to learn about good movies I wouldn't have heard about otherwise. If everything they nominated was popular, it would defeat the purpose.

@MasterMix - Or just not worry about movies you missed. Ignorance is the key, what you don't know about, you don't worry about.

@billnye69 - Well I wouldn't be much of a film buff if I did that.

When i first watched Black Panther at the movies i was let down by the cgi action and thought it was an ok film, but when i watched it at home i was blown away by the relationship drama and performances. Boseman is amply regal and charming, and Jordan was mocking and cool. Its no surprise it got a golden globe nomination with such great drama, its one of the few superhero movies to compare to the dark knight in that respect. I thought it was better than Infinity War, which was great but lacked an engaging plot, it was just battle after battle and endless quips.
